The Tuscany region

The Maremma today remains a wild and splendid territory with a lovely, mild climate. The Maremman Hills, in particular, are home to some striking landscapes which are unique and colourful in every season of the year. A territory rich in fruits, the area is decorated with olive groves and vineyards, as well as simple but very hospitable people. The medieval villages of the Maremman hills offer scenery which is one of a kind, almost seem to rise straight from the tuff rock and are surrounded by the ruins of the enormous Etruscan ‘Vie Cave’ roads and sacred streets, which link the cities and necropolises. A territory rich in architectural beauty, genuine tradition and ancient customs, the Maremma is just waiting to be discovered.

Pitigliano

Pitigliano, perched on a tuff rock cliff its origins are lost in the past. The Etruscan civilization saw the town as a natural stronghold where they could live and prosper. In the Middle Ages the Aldobrandeschi families came first followed by the Orsini counts. Today, thanks to testimony of many important witnesses, you can appreciate the town in all its beauty and particularity, soaking up the Medieval splendor which is entwined into its alleys and squares, where you can still experience the uses, customs and ancient perfumes of past civilisations. In the surrounding countryside lies necropolises, old houses and Etruscans walkways, as well as delightful places where you can spend days browsing and walking. Thanks to the many water sources and fertile land, Pitigliano’s countryside has always been suited to agriculture, which continues today to produce high quality and delicious typical local products. The town itself and the landscape of Pitigliano never fail to impress and stun those who see it and its simple beauty makes it impossible not to feel happy under its charm

"Simply supurb"

The photos and description don't do this justice, it's an amazing little spot. The village is perfect if you like something slightly off the usual beaten track of Tuscany.

The accommodation itself is unique, very tastefully renovated, and ideally located. Top that off with the owner Cristiano's enthusiasm and helpfulness and this was a great place to stay.
