Neptune’s Retreat is a privately owned, newly built, spacious 4 bedroom luxury villa situated on the south-west coast of Cyprus, in the rural seaside village of Pissouri Bay, midway between Paphos and Limassol. Set at the southern end of a small valley filled with vineyards, the villa has spectacular sea views from the living areas and also from every bedroom, (so guests can wake up to the sound of the sea and relax in bed, savouring the views in luxury). The master bedroom has a private terrace with views over the gardens, pool and across the valley to the sea.

Fitted with all the mod cons, including air conditioning, broadband internet connection and stylish furnishings, this non-smoking villa makes the most of the superb landscaping, with outdoor living a particular feature. Neptune's Retreat is ideal both for lazing around and enjoying that book you have been meaning to read for months, or for more active passions such as golf (with 2 championship courses a mere 10 minute scenic drive away), water sports at the nearby Blue Flag beach, or exploring the many beauties of this wonderful island and indulging in culinary delights at the many local tavernas and restaurants.

The Limassol District

Cyprus is one of Europe’s favourite holiday destinations. With friendly, English-speaking locals, excellent food, wine and over 5,000 years of history it’s hardly surprising! Add to that the near-zero crime rate, drive on the left, drink most tap-water and plug in your UK electrical appliances with no adaptors, you’ll understand why Cyprus promises to give you one of the most trouble-free, friendly, enjoyable and memorable holidays you will ever have! Explore Aphrodite’s Rock, the Tomb of the Kings, beaches, water-sports, water-parks and enjoy the lively atmosphere of Paphos, 20 minutes drive away, with its old harbour, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Alternatively, savour the excellent food and wines in the quieter taverns in the villages of nearby Pissouri and Kouklia with their gentle and friendly character. The villa is 10 minutes drive from Secret Valley Golf club Aphrodite Hills Golf, Hotel Leisure complex, 30 minutes from Tsada Golf.

Go hiking or biking (or try some ski-ing in winter) or relax in one of the many interesting tavernas in the glorious Troodos mountains - which is a mere 30 minute drive north from the villa through tiny winding roads. Visit Cyprus's Mount Olympus which peaks at nearly 2,000m and drink in the clear air and gorgeous mountain scenery. Then decend through Platres, stop to take in a meze and some ouzo or explore a few of the many lavishly frescoed Byzantine churches that dot the area. If you are fit and adventurous, visit the Caledonia Falls at the end of the Caledonia Trail.

Back at the coast, take a trip to the ruins of ancient Curium (or Kourion), with its impressive cliff-top theatre where you may be lucky enough to attend a play or concert in the summer season. Visit the Crusader castle at Kolossi, and take in the spectacular sunsets at the Petra tou Romiou (the legendary birthplace of Greek Goddess Aphrodite). Further afield, the Akamas peninsula in the north-west of the island hosts the island's first National Park - if you are really lucky, you may see the green and loggerhead turtles haul themselves onto the beach to lay their eggs, or even better, see the hatchlings fight their way back into the sea.

In addition to the wonderful 2km long Blue Flag beach in Pissouri Bay itself, there is a wonderful, almost deserted beach in the next bay, Avdimou, which is reached through an extensive nature reserve area filled with local wildlife and flora. Pissouri Village, with its quaint streets, lively restaurants and superb amphitheatre, is a 5 minute drive up the mountain-side, where you can savour the fabulous views over the countryside to Limassol or the Troodos Mountains.

In summer, there are regular Cypriot nights at several tavernas in both Pissouri Bay and Pissouri Village, while the nearby amphitheatre at Kourion regularly has events. Limassol and Paphos are each less than 30 minutes drive away, with their vast array of activities, including water parks, historic old towns and harbours, and long promenades along the sea front. The Limassol Sculpture Park is of particular interest and should not be missed - it is best enjoyed by taking a walk after a leisurely meal at one of the many seafront restaurants in the area.

How to get there

- Fly into airports at Larnaca (1 hour min drive) or Paphos (20-25 min). Regular flights from Heathrow, Luton, Stansted and Gatwick by several airlines, including BA, Cyprus Airways, Thompson, XL, Monarch, Thomas Cook and others.
- Taxis from Paphos airport cost about €40, while from Larnaca it is about €80.
- A car is not essential in Pissouri Bay, but if you want to make the most of your holiday, there is a lot to see and car is certainly useful to have. There are several car hire companies in Pissouri from which you can hire a car for a day or a week. If you want to hire a car at the airport, we recommend Petsas (national) and Select Rent-a-Car which is local to Pissouri Bay.
- There is no local bus transport in the village.

Outdoor living is a feature of Neptune’s Retreat, which has been provided with eight sun loungers, a table with 8 chairs and barbecue area, and electric retractable awnings for when shade is required. The villa has an extra-large 13m by 4m pool set in a substantial landscaped garden and paved patio area, filled with a wide variety of local plants, trees and flowers. There is private parking for two cars and off-road parking for a further three adjacent to the property.

The villa is suitable to be rented by two families and is very child-friendly, although renters should be aware that small children will need to be supervised in the garden and pool area as the pool is not covered and there are concrete retaining walls topped by mesh fencing with drops down to lower areas, due to the topography of the hillside on which the villa is situated.

Lovely hill-side walks begin at the front door.

For guests that wish to truly indulge themselves, you can avail yourselves of a wide range of massages, beauty treatments and other leisure facilities at the Spa and Leisure Centre situated in the 5 star Columbia Beach Resort, which is a short walk away and is available at a daily charge, payable to the hotel.

"Just a short email to say how much we enjoyed our stay at your lovely villa, Neptune's Retreat. The villa exceeded our expectations! It was beautifully presented with a well equipped kitchen and very attractive tiling in the three bathrooms, all the bedrooms had ample storage and also had lovely curtains and blinds, the beds were very comfortable! It was great to wake up to the stunning sea views every morning.

We found Pissouri Bay very charming with a very well stocked mini market and off licence, there was a good choice of restaurants and bars, also the Columbia Resort where we had a very long lunch on one of the days! It was a very pleasant walk from the villa to the bay, and not even our youngest child, who is 5 complained about the walk there or back!

We would very much like to visit Neptune's Retreat again and will certainly recommend it to our friends! We wish you lots of success with renting the villa out and we are sure that no one could be disappointed with their stay. Kind regards until we arrange another booking!"

You have provided an excellent holiday villa, fully equipped to an excellent standard throughout, right down to the barbecue skewers! You have chosen a wonderful plot with fabulous views of the sea and an excellent size pool. The patio area was perfect for outdoor dining i.e. breakfasts and moonlit suppers in the evenings. The landscaping of the gardens is delightful and I'm sure this will mature quickly and further enhance the appeal of your villa.

Pissouri itself is an ideal spot for a relaxing holiday, and a welcome change from the more over-crowded & commercialised resorts further round the coast! It does have a good selection of local restaurants - most within walking distance - and the quality of food is very acceptable, especially the fresh fish, which we've found is not always available in other parts of the Island.
