This is a 3 bedroom fully furnished, self catering apartment on second floor with lovely Tuscan views. The apartment sleeps 5 comfortably. One bedroom, with en-suite has its own entrance. Castello di Alica is a beautifully restored monastery and villa from the 13th Century of historical importance situated in a small hamlet. Quiet location but good access to all favourite Tuscan towns such as Sienna, Volterra, Lucca, San Gimignano and Florence. This property has recently been restored to a very high standard by local craftsmen.

The village of Forcoli is only 5 minutes drive and has all the necessary shops, banks and cafes etc. A good selection of restaurants are available within a short drive, particularly within the small medieval hill-top villages of Palaia and Peccioli.

The Tuscany region

Tuscany’s tranquility and harmony are said to have stirred many artistic masters’ creativity. The ancient walled towns, long lines of towering cypress trees, vineyards, fortified battlements and hilltop retreats have barely changed in over 400 years.

It is a short trip to the beautiful Tyrrhenian coast with the seaside resorts Castiglioncello and Querrcianella. The main motorway which runs between Pisa and Florence is only ten minutes drive from Alica.

There are many local farms where they are delighted for you to taste and buy their own local wine and olive oil.

Pisa / Comune di Palaia area

The apartment is situated in Castello di Alica which was originally a monastery of Carthusian monks. The village was first mentioned in a document in 980 when it was under the control of the Bishop of Lucca.

Alica is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, consisting of hilly landscapes with its pretty hilltop towns. Within a 25 km radius you can find Pisa, Volterra, San Gimignano, San Miniato and Livorno, while the famous spas of Montecatini and Casciana Terme are also near.

For opera lovers, the apartment is only twenty minutes from Lajatico, the home of Andrea Bocelli and his wonderful concert in July. Also the Puccini festival in Torre del Lago held in the summer months is within easy reach.

The well known golf course at Castelfalfi is only twenty minutes drive away.

How to get there

Alica can be reached from the following airports: Pisa, Bologna, Florence, Genoa and at a stretch Milan airport. Pisa is the most convenient at 25km away.
