The Tuscany region

You'ld visit the marvelous Tuscany simply by train, there's one every hour leaving from Pisa railway station bring you to
1)Florence: 1h far,
2) Siena/S.Gimignano 1h 30' far,
3) Lucca/Viareggio/Livorno: 10' far,
4) Chiantishire: 1h. far and many more destinations like Volterra, Cinque Terre (Portofino) and others.
Pisa is connected by High Way to Florence or Genoa. It's at half way between Milan and Rome (3 hours)
One cannot mention Volterra without thinking of alabaster working, an artistic handicraft which boasts a millennia-old history and tradition. The working of this warm and luminous stone, made up of hydrous calcium sulphate, has been handed down from father to son for thousands of years. Alabaster was used on a large scale in the Etruscan period in the making of cinerary urns, many of which – featuring finely worked bas-reliefs – are on show today at the Guarnacci Museum. Alabaster working developed the most at the end of the 18th century, when many valuable works became universally known through the enterprise of “alabaster travellers”. In the characteristic workshops of the old city and in the numerous exhibitions visitors can still find little and great masterpieces of one of the highest expressions of Italian artistic handicraft.

Pisa / City center area

It's famous in the world for its leaning Tower. Its climate is soft also in winter.
There're lots of events in Pisa, specially during June. They start on 1st at Calcinaia, with historical regata on the Arno river: rowing competition among the historical neighborhoods. After, on 16th evening, with "Luminara di S. Ranieri": illumination of the Arno embakments and large firework, then 17th "Regata storica di S. Ranieri" rowing competition on the Arno river among the four historical neighborhoods of the city. Last Sunday of the June: "Gioco del Ponte": historical procession along the Arno river embakments with the challange at "Ponte di Mezzo".

Fly to Pisa airport then there'll be the bus stop there. Local buses run regularly between airport and the centre till 9 pm, after take a taxi, it's cheap! Fare should be no more than 15 €.
Taking the bus, there's only one line there, go straight to city centre.
When you'll reach and cross Solferino bridge (soon after the Arno river, ask to bus driver) about 10 minutes, leave the bus and take Roma street (you'll can see system of signs showing the Tower), the first way on the left is Via Trieste.
The home is there!.

Guestbook

Thanks, we had a fantastic time. The apartment was clean and spacious with everything we needed. The location was excellent, we walked to the leaning tower most days and caught the train to other lovely places such as Massa and Florence. Will be recommending this apartment to friends and hopefully staying again ourselves. Thanks again for a brill holiday. Jen, Yorkshire, England - Nice, clean, warm, roomy apartment. Shower very small though. Very Central for eating places, bus routes, station, shopping. My daughter and I went to Florence a few times, only an hour by train. Highly recommended. julie & Jen, Cheshire, United Kingdom - The best place we stayed in Italy. Just right for our family of 2 adults and 2 youngsters. Location very good, the apartment was clean and tidy, very good value. The only drawback was parking and navigating the one way streets, but it is so central that no car is needed. David Ford, London England - The apartment was very good. Even with children you will find everything you need inside. It is perfect close to the magnificent place. I will come next year again. Karol Lalla, Lüneburg/ Germany
