The Tuscany region

Tuscany provides a spectacular setting for the perfect holiday or short break whatever the time of year. Offering a warm climate, idyllic landscapes, cultural riches, superb cuisine, friendly people and a relaxed way of life, Tuscany has it all. While most visitors come to enjoy the relaxed way of life, the scenery and of course the food and wine, Tuscany provides a wealth of attractions.

The historic towns of Pisa, Siena, Florence, San Miniato, Lucca, Volterra, Pistoia, and San Gimignano are all within easy reach. Pisa in particular offers more than just the Leaning Tower. It is an historic university town with a wide range of restaurants, bars and shopping. The renaissance architecture and museums make Florence a great destination for a day trip.

Pisa / Volterra area

Podere Diacceroni is found on a property that extends over 250 hectares, tucked in the hillside of Pisa with a mountain view of Volterra and San Gimignano. The farm produces organic products, specializing in wine, olive oil and honey. The vegetable gardens found on the farm offer true flavours of produce cultivated in a natural and genuine manner.

Volterra is situated in the province of Pisa and lies between the valley of Era and Cecina. Built on a hilly pliocene ridge surrounded by two defensive walls, one Etruscan and the other Medieval, it is one of the most important centres of Tuscany, for its monuments which testify 3,000 years of civilisation and for its traditional craftsmanship in alabaster whose products are one of Italy's leading crafts.

Volterra is not yet touched by the stress of contemporary life and visitors who come to Volterra have the immediate impression of stepping into the past. Apart from its monuments, its art and history, Volterra also offers a magnificent view of the gentle undulating hills of the surrounding landscape abruptly interrupted in the West by the Balze (crags).

Pisa is set in a wide floodplain (4 m. above sea level) few kilometres far from the Tyrrhenian coast and it stretches in the two bank of the river Arno. Pisa is among the main cultural city of Italy. It keeps a rich artistic heritage with its original Medieval reworking of Islamic, Lombard and local influences. It is to note the wonderful Duomo and the leaning tower, a monument discussed and known as one of the seven wonders of the world. It is a chief town of a province of Tuscany and an archiepiscopal see.
