Le Four à Pain is one of the original gites at Longeveau, located in a corner of the classical French courtyard at Longeveau, under the shade of a magnificent lime tree. This former bakery has been thoughtfully renovated into a charming cottage and retains many of the original features.

The open plan kitchen, dining and living room is a pleasant and relaxing space, featuring the original bread ovens. To the rear is a private and sunny garden from which the swimming pools can be easily accessed (but which are also fully secure!). Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a shower room. The split level master bedroom is accessed though a small stone doorway. The twin room and 'bijou' single room are perfect for small children. A little tight for grown ups, but both have full size, single beds and space to put your clothes.

The property comes equipped with all of your tableware and kitchen requirements and laundry facilities are provided close by.

Additional beds can be put in some properties for increased accommodation and twin or double combinations can be altered if required. Cots, high chairs and plenty of other baby bits are available if needed. Internet access, wifi and TV (for sports and significant events) are available from the bar, while some cottages have TV / DVDs and wifi. The garden is furnished with sun loungers, outside dining and a BBQ for the long summer days!

Please note that we have several other equally charming three-bedroomed cottages on site, as well as a choice of smaller or larger properties.

Longeveau itself is a small hamlet in a beautiful valley designated by the Michelin Guide as 'A Place of Special Beauty'. Within the estate we offer a superb range of facilities to make your holiday as relaxed or enjoyable as you wish it to be. We offer the opportunity for families or groups to socialise with others, or simply appreciate the peace and quite of your own company!

Our 9 hole FFG golf course is a challenge to golfers of all abilities. We have three all-weather tennis courts, a sports barn with compact tennis, basketball etc., a table tennis barn and boules pitch. We have five swimming pools (two heated / three private) plus a children's splash pool and plenty of space to relax in or explore. Golf and tennis coaching is available from local English speaking PGA / CCA qualified professionals.

For our smaller guests we have a play area, a toddlers play area, a secret play house and a crèche that runs throughout the summer. Our restaurant serves great food and shares a terrace with the bar, with south facing views across the grounds and the valley.

The Poitou-Charentes region

The region is known for it's great climate with sun drenched summers, rolling green hills and valleys as far as you can see, plus all the history you could ever need. The food and drink is superb and the people are welcoming. The area is a paradise for wine lovers who may wish to visit the numerous chateaux and wine caves on the Bordeaux wine trail.

Pillac

Longeveau is located on the Charente / Dordogne border in a beautiful valley in rural South West France. Nearby villages are full of activity, with places to visit, dine and drink. The picturesque old Roman town of Aubeterre, which was recently voted one of the prettiest villages in France, is only a bike ride away. Discover the 12th century subterranean church carved out of the rock or enjoy a drink on the village square with it's variety of shops, eateries and museums, all overlooked by a 1,000 year old chateau. Alternatively walk down to the river beach for a swim, relax or a bite to eat.

The market town of Riberac (20 mins) has one of the biggest markets in France! The capital towns of Angouleme and Perigueux (45 mins) offer a wider and more sophisticated range of shops in a typically French setting. Brantome, nicknamed the 'Venice of Perigord' is well worth a visit at a similar distance. Also within easy reach are towns such as St. Emilion, Bergerac, Cognac and Bordeaux, all famous for their wines and spirits and equally beautiful places to visit.

Local activities range from walking, sight seeing, tree climbing, canoeing, cycling, fishing, or even jet–skiing and quad biking to name but a few. Wine tasting and degustation are of course a staple part of the French experience! There are a variety of local festivals, fetes and firework displays that take place throughout the summer in the local villages and towns. These are aimed at all ages and generally take place between the months of June and September.

Children will find plenty to occupy themselves and their families with activities ranging from crazy golf, horse riding and tree top adventure's to daytrip's to the popular attractions of Aqualand Water Park, La Palmyre Zoo and Futuroscope. Longeveau is fortunate to have a number of very good restaurants in the area, ranging from cafés to fine dining. As with everything, our staff will be happy to recommend or help you with decisions.

"Best kept secret"

Longveau is a paradise for couples and families with young kids. The atmosphere is super cute (nice clubhouse, with good food and great view), the fascilities perfect (good golf course, nice playgrounds-, swimming pool- and daycare for youngsters) and the scenery very beautiful (although driving around on a bike was a but heavy for us, so keep in mind that you need a car if you want to get of the property). We will definitely visit again!

"Utterly relaxing, felt like our own home in the French countryside."

Really loved this place. Adorable cottage, lots of charm, very peaceful surroundings and a gorgeous swimming pool mainly all to ourselves. The best part was the staff, however, it felt like we'd gone to stay with extended family in the heart of the French countryside. We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome.
