Pietrasanta area
Pietrasanta..a medieval fortress town at the foot of the Apuan mountains,with their famous marble quarries,and just five kilometers from the mediterrenean sea, is today a quiet yet very active small town. Tasteful shops line the main street….the large central piazza with it’s many friendly caffes is a place to meet and make friends over a steaming cappuccino or whatever pleases you. The many excellent yet unobtrusive restaurants spill onto the streets during the warm months. Sculptors and other artists from all over the world are at home here …trusting their work to the various fine foundries and marble yards in the area. Art galleries abound and during the summer months there is a flurry of cultural activities,concerts, ballets, theater. there are fine sandy beaches only a stone’s throw away, or green shady mountains that one can hike in or discover antique hamlets or villages.. The cultural cities of Lucca, Pisa, Florence, are all less than an hours’ drive as are the delightful fishing villages of “Cinque Terre”on the Ligurean coast.
Our summer cottage is on a hill just in back of Pietrasanta only one kilometer from one of the main piazzas.It’s a small house standing in a shady bamboo wood overlooking an olive grove and out to sea It consists of two rooms plus full bathroom. A bedroom with two beds , a living room with sofabed and kitchen corner with stove sink and fridge. Lots of outdoor space with pergola for “ al fresco” dining.
How to get there
From Pisa airport 40 minutes by car......on autostrada.... exit Versilia follow signs to Pietrasanta ...other indications will be given when contacted
