For those who wish to rest and relax, Bon Courage is the place to be. Located in the heart of Calvados, at an hour's drive from the D-Day Landing Beaches, Bayeux, Caen and the famous Mont St. Michel, its rural setting offers peace and tranquillity.

Bon Courage, a completely restored, charming farm building consists of 4 gites under one roof - 3 gites for rent and 1 gite for owners' and/or their representatives' use. On this web site only the largest gite (SNOWDROP) is listed - PRIMROSE (sleeping upto 6) and HYCINTH (sleeping upto 3) are available for rent as well. The solar heated, indoor swimming pool, the boules (petanque) court and a good sized pitch give ample opportunity to relax and have fun as well. Vire, the closest larger town is 12 KM from Bon Courage, whereas Vassy a nice village where most 'essentials' can be purchased is 5 KM away. There are two golf courses within 30 minutes drive from the property. Equestrian activities within 20 minutes drive.

The Normandy / Calvados region

The Calvados department, part of the Basse Normandie is known for its many apple orchards, its delicious cidre and the famous Calvados liqueur. Of the many dairy farm products, the Camembert cheese (particularly the locally produced ones) are of outstanding quality. Bon Courage located in the Southern part of the Calvados is approximately one hour drive away from the D-Day landing beaches, Caen, Bayeux and the Mont St. Michel. There are many places of interest, whether historical, such as chateaux- , or leisure (two golf courses, horse back riding) in the immediate region. Both Vire and Conde-sur-Noireau have excellent weekly outdoor markets. The climate is moderate.

Pierres / Avilly area

Pierres is a very rural community with only 197 permanent residents. Avilly is a 'hamlet' of 7 houses.
Bon Courage is at the end of a winding lane. The greatest attraction is the peace and quiet, where one can come to relax, play on the grounds and swim (during the spring/summer season)

How to get there

From CAEN - take A84 direction Rennes / Vire - exit on D577 direction VIRE - then take D407 and exit on D512, direction VASSY / Conde s/Noireau (left turn) turn left on D57 direction PIERRES - after one mile take right on D303 and after about .5 mile take right to Avilly / Rully - before white gate turn left and drive till end of winding lane. Bon Courage will be on you left.

All apartments (SNOWDRP, PRIMROSE and HYACINTH) have new thermostatic showers, new fridges as well as new flat-screen televisions (receiving all major British channels (SKY) , as well as major French channels)and dvd players.
Please also note that Linen and towels are available as optional extras.

Bon Courage is situated on over 2 acres, mostly laid to lawn grounds. The swimming pool is a solar. heated, INDOOR one. There is a 'boules' (petanque) court and a good sized pitch for various sports. Picnic tables and a communal barbecue are available, as well as outdoor furniture.

Further details

Preferred change-over day is Saturday - 4PM for arriving guests and 10AM departure.
Booking Forms and Terms and Conditions will be (e-) mailed upon fixing dates.
Guests are requested to promptly return the completed Booking Form(s), with a non -refundable deposit of 25% of the rental value, to owners. Upon receipt of these the booking will be confirmed.
Bed-linen and towels are available upon request at £5- per person for the linen and £3- per set (shower and pool) of towels.

Conditions

Rates are based on weekly rentals (discounts for longer stays 2 to 3 weeks are available). Though owners prefer minimum rentals of one week, they will consider short breaks requests as well. Preferred change-over days are Saturdays (leaving 10AM and arriving from 4PM)

Depending on availability the 3 gites can be let to 'one' party of upto 16 people. Contact owners directly for further details.

HYACINTH unit (one mezzanine bedroom, lounge with kitchen area - shower-room, w.c.) Spring £250-, Summer £300- and Autumn £225-

Rental prices include the use of the solar heated, indoor swimming pool.(during summer season)

Bedlinen and/or towels optional, upon request - 2 and 3 weeks rates available upon request as well.
