Ávila (78 km)
Sheltered by the Sierra de Gredos Avila stands, declared a World Heritage Site. Behind the walls of this capital Castilian-Leonese you can find a rich set of churches and Renaissance palaces, witnesses of the past splendor of the city as a center of textile production. Its status as the birthplace of St. Teresa of Jesus has left throughout the city, both inside and outside the walls, a large number of religious buildings linked to the mystical life. The European Commission has granted the award Avila 2010 at the City accessible. But Avila offers peculiar smaller towns dotting the Sierra. Including Piedralaves.
Our holiday homes are located in the the ancient castillean village of Piedralaves (province of Avila) exactly at Las Viñas street, very close to the natural swimming pools, called "the granddaughter" and "grandmother". It is very nice and the views from the house are spectacular (green pine mountains all around, the "serradilla" and Lanchamala peaks- Gredos Range, Tietar River Valley, very quiet and relaxing.
Piedralaves (0 km)
Piedralaves is a wonderful town in Valle del Tiétar at the foot of the Sierra de Gredos, Ávila. Nestled on a hillside populated with pines, chestnut trees and cork oaks. You also find the church of the late eighteenth century coffered ceiling, arched barrel vault and an impressive altar in baroque style. Piedralaves is full of beauty and simplicity. As you will see in you can perform activities such as hiking, biking, mushrooming, paragliding, horse riding and of course know the fork lake situated in a privileged place where the clear waters makes it a rich fishing ground ( trout).
• Natural Pools (0 km)
One of the essential visits are natural pools Nuñocojo Throat: The Pond Granddaughter (the largest) and Grandmother, the latter ideal for children. In summer to bath and drink in the bar, so yes, the water is always something more than "cool", but my kids do not seem to mind. In winter ideal for their views, the force of the water roaring in her throat. You get there easily by taking the street only progress that climbs to the mountain, and after a walk of about 5 minutes, leaving the water tank on your right will you find them on your left at the bottom of the road. You will find a ramp and stone stairs, also nearby stone benches and tables to have a snack in the shade.
• Adrada Castle (6 km)
As the castle was very important in the past, there is a museum called 'Centro interpretacion del Valle del Tietan'. There you will find models of the castle in all its glory, the history of the area, plus a lot of replicas of weapons and armor used by the defenders of the Castle the Adrada in their sieges.
•Eagle Caves (42 km)
The caves are located south of the province of Ávila, in Valle del Tiétar. They are formed of limestone. The caves were discovered in 1963 and can be visited throughout the year. The Grand Chamber of the Cave contains whimsical formations, columns, stalactites and numerous clay layers that cover the following galleries.
