The cottage is only 5 minutes level stroll to Pickering centre with its many fine shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. There is a large lounge with sofa and easy chairs, a recently refurbished dining kitchen with light oak units, integrated appliances and dining table seating up to 4, and a family bedroom comprising a double bed with a matching single bed and modern beech finished furniture. The modern bathroom includes bath with shower over, basin, wc and heated towel rails.

The Northern England / Yorkshire / Yorkshire region

Pickering is idealy placed for visiting North Yorkshire's many picturesque towns, villages, stately homes, moors and forests, together with the popular heritage coast resorts of Whitby and Scarborough and nearby quaint fishing villages. The historic city of York is only 45 minutes away by car and Flamingoland theme park and zoo is just a few minutes drive away. North Yorkshire also has excellent public transport services.

Pickering area

The bustling market town of Pickering, being an early staging post at the crossroads of the Helmsley to Scarborough and York to Whitby trade routes, has all the amenities you could wish for with the added advantage of a slower pace of life than in our larger towns and cities. The town's origins are predominently agricultural with examples almost every where you look. There is also a medieval castle, unique early wall paintings in the Parish Church and the Beck Isle Museum of local history. More recent history in the form of preserved railways can be found at the famous North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, offering unrivalled scenic and nostalgic journeys through "Heartbeat" country to Whitby. There are many special events staged throughout the year, including the popular Traction Engine Rally in August, the northern section of the Pirelli British Rally Championships in October and the NYMR Wartime Weekend , also in October.

How to get there

By car from M1/A1, about 40 minutes
