The beautiful village of Thornton-le-Dale is a charming jumble of streams, paths and houses scattered around a village green with its market cross and old stocks. There are a variety of shops, public houses and tea-rooms in the village, as well as The North Yorkshire Motor Museum which specialises in restoring and selling vintage vehicles. Pickering has a wider range of facilities and attractions such as the famous North York Moors Steam Railway and is just two miles away. To the north of the village is Dalby Forest, which has several excellent nature trails and paths. Further afield but still within easy reach is the vibrant city of York. Thornton-le-Dale makes a delightful base for a holiday in this outstanding area.
