Further details outdoors

Outside: There is a terrace, close to the dining room, with a BBQ and table and chairs. There is a large 10m x 5m swimming pool which has been entirely renovated. It is between 1 and 2 metres deep and is equipped with certified safety alarm that can detect someone falling in the water. The water temperature varies between 25 to 30°C throughout the summer. The house is in the middle of a huge garden of 9,000 m2, all of which is totally enclosed. It is well stocked with a wide variety of trees and Mediterranean plants: olive trees, almond trees, different fruits trees, and different “herbes de Provence” growing between the rocks. There is a large parking area sufficient for 10 or more vehicles next to the villa. Access to Les Montels is by a small lane which ends in a cul de sac at the villa. No other vehicles use this lane, so this gives privacy to the villa and offers peace and quiet. The only sound guests can hear is the singing of the cicadas in the heat of a summer's afternoon. The property is not over-looked, the nearest house is a few kms away.

The Languedoc-Roussillon region

The historic town of Pézenas is just 10 kms away. Pézenas has larger shops and supermarkets. There are also many antiques shops offering articles from a bygone age plus a variety of small shops selling handcrafts, many typical of the region. Pézenas is also famous for being the home of Molière, one of France's greatest playwrights. Molière spent part of his life in Pézenas, writing and presenting his plays for the Prince de Conti and the King Louis XIV. In more modern times, the town was the birthplace of a famous French singer and comedian, Bobby Lapointe.

Mediterranean beaches: The closest beaches are around 20 minutes away, driving towards Sète and Cap d'Agde. Spain is just 1h30 away via the motorway.

Mountains: The lake “lac du Salagou” is just 15 minutes away and is a great tourist attraction. A little further away is the mountainous region of the Cévennes. Here, tourists can visit the “Cirque de Mourèze” or the gorges of Héric.

Pezenas

This holiday villa in Southern France is situated within peaceful countryside in the middle of the vineyards. The villa is situated close to a village, midway between the mountains and the sea. It only takes about 20 – 30 minutes by car to reach the busy Mediterranean resorts or beaches, or the peaceful foothills of the Cévennes. Driving on the local roads is a joy. This is far from the heavy traffic of the cities and motorways. The small countryside roads allow the tourist to enjoy the beauty of the landscapes, and the sweet-smelling garrigue, and surrounded by the largest wine domain in France. This part of the south of France has its own micro-climate with long sunny days in the summer and very mild winters. The region also has a wide variety of tourist attractions to suit everyone's taste.

Two km away is the village of Roujan. This is a small and quiet Languedoc village, typical of the region. All the usual amenities are there including baker's shops, grocery shops, bank and post office, as well as doctors, a dentist, a pharmacy, and two petrol stations.

In the surrounding area there are plenty of wine domains that tourists can visit. Here it is possible to taste and sample the many different regional wines available. And of course, this part of the south of France is just as famous for its fine food, with local cafés and restaurants serving traditional dishes. There are plenty of things to see and do within walking distance of the villa. You can explore the local countryside by simply walking around the different vineyards using the many footpaths.
