About the home

In Summer the Couvent is perfect for family holidays. Parents can relax on the dining terrace with a glass of wine while the kids play safely in the enclosed garden. Shared barbeque and summer kitchen allows guests to choose to be social and the private dining terraces give the choice of privacy.
Outside school holidays the Couvent is a great base for couples or groups of friends to enjoy Pezenas's wide choice of wine bars, restaurants and cafes, the antique and bric-a-brac shops, galleries and architecture.
With two en suite bedrooms each apartment can accommodate either a couple and two singles or two couples. The mezzanine floor offers further sleeping space for larger parties.
The couvent provides bikes for guests' use and is an easy cycle from the River Herault with a couple of beautiful river beaches.

Arriving at the Couvent, you walk through the garden and come to your terrace at the front of the apartment. The terrace has a dining table and chairs plus a barbeque.
You walk in through french doors to a bright and spacious open plan dining / kitchen /living area. The dining table seats 6. Sitting room furniture consists of well worn and comfortable leather couches. Each apartment has a bathroom on the ground floor with w.c. and washbasin.

The kitchen is fully equipped. All cookware is provided.

The mezzanine has a pull out sofa bed with TV area. French TV is available and there is also a DVD player and stereo.

This space has been left free of clutter so it’s a good play space for kids if the weather is not up to our usual standards! Stair gates can be provided on request.

The apartments each have 2 bedrooms one with a large double bed and one with choice of double or single beds (zip together beds) and en-suite bathrooms.

The bedrooms all look out over the garden and have shutters so you can sleep late. One bathroom has a cast iron bath and separate shower, the other has a large shower.

Further details outdoors:
The mature trees give shade where required and hammocks and swing chairs provide great entertainment for children. The pool area is in full sun almost all day, perfect for sunbathing and relaxing.

All linens are provided including towels, tea towels and 4 beach towels (beach towels are collected on the day before your departure).

We can also supply high chairs, cots or stair guards (please request these in advance).

A Wifi network is available with good access from the terraces but slightly limited indoors due to the thick walls. Please ask us for the codes on arrival.

For those arriving in the colder months the apartments will be nice and cosy as they have both radiators and underfloor heating. They are heated 24hrs before you arrive.

Conditions

A deposit of €300 secures your booking and is then used as the security deposit during your stay.
The full payment is due 8 weeks before arrival.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region

The Languedoc region of France is a fantastic place for a holiday! Known for its 300 days of sunshine a year, wonderful wines and sandy beaches, it also has the mountains of the Languedoc National Park, lakes and rivers, plenty of sporting activities and a huge cultural and historical base.
Long known as the poor cousin of Provence, the Languedoc is now increasing in popularity but we still have relatively clear roads, uncrowded beaches and plenty of places yet to be discovered.

The Pezenas area

The Languedoc region of France is a fantastic place for a holiday! Known for its 300 days of sunshine a year, wonderful wines and sandy beaches, it also has lots more to offer for a different type of holiday.

From your base at the Couvent in historic Pezenas you can tailor your holiday to be as relaxed or as active as you like. Here are just some suggestions for holidays that make the most of the wonderful environment of the couvent and the Languedoc. Staying at the Couvent you can enjoy several different types of holiday:

Family holidays – Staying at the Couvent means you are walking distance from the centre of Pezenas yet you still enjoy the pool and large secluded garden. Relax in the garden, take bikes and tour the vines, head for any of the many wonderful beaches within 1/2 hour drive, visit tourist attractions and museums aimed at children and adults such as quad biking, museums, adventure parks in the trees, kayaking and much more.

For couples and groups of friends there is always the attraction of the wonderful Languedoc wines and food. Wander into the centre of Pezenas for a coffee and croissant or a glass of wine and some tapas, taking the bikes out for a picnic to the river, go on wine tasting tours, discover how oysters are "grown" at Bouzigues and enjoy a wonderful seafood lunch, wander around the ports of Meze or Marseillan, take out a sailing boat, learn to kite surf at Narbonne, visit the local markets and buy local cheeses, tapenades and charcuterie... this area has all you need for a gastronomic holiday.

Cycling holidays – whether training for a triathlon or enjoying cycling through the vines, the roads, the scenery and the lunch stops make cycling in the Languedoc a dream! We have four bikes for use by guests at the Couvent and if you are a serious cyclist we can organise a package including pick up and dropoff from Beziers airport for you and your bikes, or hire of decent road bikes.

Antiquing holidays - for those interested in antiques and bric a brac, Pezenas is THE place to be. With some 40 shops along the main street of Pezenas, you'll never run out of browsing space. There are also flea markets and garage sales every weekend in local villages and, twice a year in May and October, Pezenas hosts a massive Brocante that takes over the streets for an entire Sunday. The Couvent des Ursulines in Pezenas is in an ideal location for the perfect South of France holiday.

It’s just 20 minutes from mediterranean beaches, walking distance from restaurants, wine bars, brocantes (antiques and bric a brac), perfectly situated to explore the region by car and visit historic villages, wineries and cafes or go hiking in the Languedoc National Park or kayaking down the Orb or the Herault.

We recommend that you hire a car for your stay as there are so many activities in the area. If you prefer to use public transport please see below the airport list for options. We can help you organise a pick up.
