With an all year round Mediterranean climate Paphos is very popular with visitors from the UK, Germany and Scandinavia looking for a cosmopolitan holiday resort. Paphos is most established holiday resort in Southern Cyprus and among its attractions are its ancient mosaic floors, historical sites, a beautiful old harbour, its modern hotels and restaurants, situated along the harbour front promenade. Other sights include an archaeological museum, the Byzantine castle of Paphos, the Tombs of the Kings, St. Paulas Pillar and the Temple of Aphrodite (the goddess of love and beauty).
The climate of Cyprus makes the summer months a popular time for tourism in Paphos, when temperatures are mid 30s degrees Celsius every day. However the cooler winter months attract keen walkers, mountain biking enthusiasts and skiers to the Troodos Mountains and Akamas peninsular areas.
Paphos offers shopping in the tourist beach promenade and the old town area of Kato Paphos has a wonderful old covered market area to browse around. In addition to the wonderful choice of beaches and all year sunshine Paphos offers families a fantastic choice of modern or traditional restaurants, and many things to do and see, from water parks, to go carting, Golf to Luxury spas there is something for all ages to enjoy.
The Peyia / Peyia Village area
Peyia is a very popular and charming village situated on a gently sloping hillside overlooking Coral Bay. It is very traditional in look and feel with little winding streets and traditional stone houses with an old village church and shops at the centre.
Peyia offers visitors a good selection of amenities including banks, doctors, two supermarkets, a fantastic bakery, butchers, fishmongers, DVD shop and launderette. It also offers a good selection of traditional tavernas where you can try the local fish or meat meze, or you can try Sophie’s restaurant offers international and very popular buffet evenings throughout the week.

Stayed here in August 2011. Villa was exactly as described and true to the pictures used in the property details. We found the villa to be clean and tidy and mostly in good to excellent order. All in all a great villa but..... The villa next door, to the south of Villa Avalon is home to a rather noisy dog. The dog was kept outside under the car port in a cage. It was allowed to roam free during the day and often wandered into the grounds of Villa Avalon. This in itself was not a huge problem as the dog seemed friendly and was eaily ushered away but we did find it rather annoying. The real problems started when the dog was locked in its cage from early evening until the following morning. It would typically bark and whine on and off for several hours at a time. This totally spoilt our evenings of sitting by the pool, or anywhere in or oustide the villa. We could almost have lived with that had it not been for the fact it started barking and whining from about 6am until someone finally attended to it up to 2 hours later. As you can imagine, baing woken at 6am every morning whilst on hiliday is not ideal. On top of that there were severaly nights when we were woken in the eraly hours by it barking. The owners of the dog seemed oblivious to the noise being caused. We thought long and hard about approaching them but could not really see what they could do to resolve the issue as the dog was clealry lonely at night and they didn't want it in their villa. In the end we decided to try and ignore it. Had we any idea this would be the situation we would never have booked this villa. In fairness to the owner this situation could easily change so I would advise you check carefully with them before booking this villa. Would I go back? Not while the next door dog is in residence! Response: We were only aware of the neighbours dog after the event, the son had come home from teaching and brought his dog with him. He and the dog have now gone and it is back to peace and quiet. We are sorry about this but beyond our control at the time. This is truly a lovely quiet spot, private and peacfeful as it also our home away from home we chose this spot due to the quietness of the surrounding area.. |

The Villa was excellent. There was everything we coud wish for. There was 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 kids from age 3 to age of 11 and we all loved the place. Even the youngest of the party started to think that this is now out home and we'll never go back up north. A beautiful villa in a lovely village and polite people.
