The Paphos District

The charming western town of Paphos focuses around a little harbour, with picturesque open air fish restaurants lining a quay-side of bright boats and pleasure crafts. Phoas is entwined with Greek mythology and the legendary birth of Aphrodite on its shores, which brought fame and worshippers to follow the cult of the Goddess. Landmarks associated with Aphrodite are chunky, rugged rocks of her beautiful birth shore known as the Aphrodite Rock or ' Petra tou Romiou' , the evocative sanctuary of Aphrodite at Kouklia Village, one time shrine and scene of pagan festivals for thousands, the Baths of Aphrodite at Polis, supposed source of fertility and the Fountain of Love, or 'Fontana Amarosa', a few kilometers further into the Akamas Peninsula.
Peyia / Peyia Village area
Coral Bay, only about 7 kilometres west of Paphos. You will find tavernas, local shops, banks, baker, fishmonger and butcher and restaurants here plus a lovely church and village square and gardens. The narrow streets are filled with old and interesting stone houses and colourful gardens.
The apartment is located less than a half-hour's drive from 3 golf courses, so if you're a keen golfer be sure to bring your clubs along! There is the top-quality Aphrodite Hills club, or Tsada (located in the hills above Paphos, offering magnificent views as well as top-class golf) or Secret Valley, a little further along the coast.
There is plenty to do in Coral Bay itself. During the day, relax and sunbathe on the beach - or, if you feel a little more energetic, try your hand at one of the many water sports on offer! On an evening, Coral Bay offers plenty of dining and entertainment options, including bars, tavernas, restaurants and nightspots.
For a taste of Cyprus's natural beauty, try venturing westwards along the coast. Here you will find Agios Georgios (a secluded harbour and beach offering peace and tranquillity). Still further to the west is the Akamos Peninsular, an area of wild, rugged natural beauty. The peninsular is an ideal spot for walking (especially in the cooler months) and is also home to Turtle Beach, a beach where hundreds of loggerhead turtles lay their eggs every year. The traditional Greek taverna overlooking the beach is a great place for a laid-back lunch. Much further past this point you will need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to explore the terrain by the dirt tracks available or go into the Trudos Mountains where you can Ski. A real taste of "wild Cyprus", far removed from the tourist hotspots!
