BookThe Paphos region
Cyprus is the third largest of the Mediterranean islands and offers a varied landscape, from citrus and olive groves, the Troodos Mountains with its’ pine forests and vineyards to some of Europe’s cleanest beaches. It is the island of Aphrodite. The goddess of beauty and fertility and an Island rich in history with spectacular Byzantine churches, superb Roman mosaics and Tombs hewn from the rock cliffs.
The Cypriot people are immensely proud of their island and very welcoming to its’ visitors, most speaking excellent English. All our guests receive our "Best Bits Brochure" which is designed to get you to the best Tavernas, Beaches, Supermarkets, Vineyards, Boat Hire and just about everything else ensuring that your time on holiday is spent enjoying the best rather than trying to find the best !
The Peyia area
Pegia is approximately 15 km northwest of Paphos. A traditional Cypriot village with a beautiful traditional stone-paved square with drinking fountains and plenty of local tavernas. There are also 3 banks. Two great supermarkets and some superb local eateries. About 5 minutes by car is Agious Georgios where you will find a few taverna’s/restaurants, a hotel and a quiet little harbour. Set above the harbour is a taverna offering fantastic views along the Akamas Peninsula.
The whole of this area was once a Roman settlement and some of the tombs cut out of the rock can be seen along with the remains of a 6th Century Basilica. The Akamas Peninsula approx. 8km from Peqia, is a beautiful protected region of hills, valleys and rocky shores with rich and varied flora and diverse wildlife. The roads here are more like rough tracks and to take full advantage of this beautiful area a 4 wheel drive is well worth hiring,.
It is also possible to book a jeep expedition into this area. Even in the height of summer your 4 wheel drive will take you to a totally deserted sandy beach . On the beaches green and loggerhead turtles come up to lay their eggs and a turtle hatchery can be found at Lara Bay.
The resort of Coral Bay, approx. 2 km away is lined with shops, bars and taverna’s, the beach offers shallow, clear waters ideal for swimming and for the many other water sports on offer. The large resort of Paphos is split into 2 halves, upper and lower Paphos (Kitma and Kato Paphos). Kato Paphos is based around a picturesque harbour where colourful fishing boats unload their catch in the morning and the choice of cafes, bars and restaurants in huge. Small boats can be hired from the harbour and there are also larger boats offering cruises to Latchi .
This is also the area where most of the historic sites can be found. The upper town contains the main commercial centre along with a varied sections of shops and modern museums.
