The Paphos region
This is the perfect location from where there is easy access to everything! Close to the best beaches in western Cyprus, the unspoilt beauty of the Akamas nature reserve, a short drive to the fabulous marina at Latchi and also to Paphos itself where there are shops, a harbour, nightlife - so you can be as relaxed or as busy as you want to be.
Paphos is a world heritage site with many archealogical attractions - ancient mosaics and Tombs of the Kings.
Cyprus was once a British colony and much of the law is based upon the British legal system the land registry system is the same as the UK and contracts are drawn up in English or Greek making it easy for you to understand.
The mother language is Greek, with other official languages being Turkish and English. English is widely spoken, or at least understood, by more than 90% of the population. Road signs, shop signs, menu's, etc are in both English and Greek.
Cyprus has a mild Mediterranean climate - short mild winters and long warm summers. Average daytime temperature is about 10-15 degrees centigrade in winter and 25-35 degrees centigrade in summer. Ski lovers can also take advantage of the snowfall on the Troodos mountains during the winter months (from around late December through to early March). So you can Ski in the morning and sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon!
Public transport on the island is limited so most people own or use a car. The best thing about driving in Cyprus is that they drive on the same side of the road as in the UK and all the road signs are in both English and Greek.
The Mediterranean diet is one of the healthiest in the world, foods rich with veggies, pulses, beans, olive oil and herbs. You'll find local tavernas and restaurants providing traditional Cypriot meals, like the famous fish or meat meze and along with all international cuisines such as Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Indian, French, Italian, Mexican, Lebanese, Armenian and Serbian.
You can always find your imported beers and spirits in Cyprus but it's a lot cheaper to buy the local variety Keo and Carlsberg are local beers, Filfar is liqueur, Commandaria is the desert wine, a Brandy Sour the summer cocktail and the most famous local spirit is Zivania,
There are restaurants and tavernas to suit all pockets and tastes. Indian, Chinese, Greek, Italian etc....
We particularly like The Mill and Le Grande in Peyia. Neo's Sport Club is favoured by ex-pats and has a lot to offer including wonderful steaks cooked at your table, invariably by the owner, Stavros. There is a lovely rooftop area where you can survey the panoramic views to Paphos with all the twinkling lights at night - beautiful. There is caberet, pool, bowling available also.
A visit to Oniro taverna is a must - a little hard to find, go down to the main road and cross it and go down to the coast road -go towards St George and the Sea Caves and you will see a sign - the location is fabulous - right on the cliffs that are floodlit at night and you can enjoy wonderful sunsets from the beautiful lawned area.
Also if you want a barbeque with a difference with amazing views over the Gorge and Lara Bay where the turtles are, visit The Viklari (Last Castle) on the Akamas.

Thanks very much for letting us stay at your villa! After several visits to Cyprus this had to be the best vllla we've stayed in and both had an amazing time. Gorgeous view, perfect location and was very well equipped - didn't need anything more!. The weather was fantastic and a great pool. Was within a few minutes drive from beaches, sites, tavernas, shops and water sports which were all incredibly easy to find. Managed to do so much in 10 days. Highly recommended!!
