The Paphos region

Cyprus has more to offer the visitor than any other Mediterranean island, a fascinating blend of landscape, climate, history and culture. There is a seemingly endless coastline of sandy coves and beaches washed gently by crystal clear blue waters.
Birthplace of Aphrodite and in Roman times the capital of Cyprus, Paphos is one of the most beautiful and ancient towns of Cyprus and is situated on the southwest coast. Sheltered from the north by the Troodos Mountains, it has the healthiest climate in the Mediterranean. Paphos Harbour with it's ancient castle, marine and water sports centres, is lined with colourful restaurants serving fresh fish and marine delicacies. Nearby are archaeological sites, rich with antiquities, providing an interest away from the usual - in fact UNESCO has included Paphos on it's World Cultural Heritage List.
There are no private beaches on the island and Cyprus boasts dozens of European Blue Flag awards. The secluded sandy beaches are perfect for snorkelling and every watersport you can imagine.
If you want excitement then you may want to visit one of three world class water parks within easy reach that rival any in the world. Or, if you want something more relaxing there are 4 golf courses within 30 minutes drive.
Eating out in Cyprus is not only extremely cheap but also it's virtually impossible to eat badly. A lot of the locals and tourists too, don't bother cooking at home they just eat out. You can get full English breakfasts for around 5 euros and even have a 20 to 30 course meal, the famous 'Cyprus Meze', for around 15 euros.
There truly is just too much of Cyprus to write about here. The best thing is to just make the effort to visit and we guarantee you will have the holiday of a lifetime. If you want any further information at all please use the e-mail facility and we will get back to you straight away.
The Peyia area
Winding up through the banana plantations after a short drive along the coast road from Paphos brings you to Peyia. Villa Alicia has a delightful position on the hillside in Peyia overlooking the sea at Coral Bay.
The village of Peyia is one of the most picturesque and popular villages in the Paphos area. Peyia is spread over a large area with the village centre having many good amenities including bars, restaurants, tavernas, shops and banks.
Peyia is a typical Cypriot village. A beautiful ancient church forms the heart of the village while the narrow streets and alleyways are full of old and interesting houses adorned with colourful flowers and citrus trees. Peyia is still largely unspoilt with lively tavernas and friendly locals. You can also buy all your provisions including fresh meat and bread in the shops in Peyia. The early morning aroma of freshly baked bread, sweet and savoury local pastries and cakes coming from the Peyia bakery is almost too much to resist!
From Peyia the attractions in Paphos and renowned Paphos Aphrodite Water Park are also easily accessible, as are numerous archaeological ruins in Paphos such as the Tombs of the Kings and Paphos Archaeological Park.

Guestbook for Villa Alicia - Single Storey
Review submitted by Norbert from Bremen, Germany - (Submitted: 12/11/2011)
"Back in Germany I had a lot of work, however, now I get around to thanking once again. We have felt us very well in the villa Alicia. Particularly we would like to praise on-the-spot support. Brian was very reliable and handed over its work on Dug. Dug looked after us very well. For example he substituted for a broken sun umbrella stand, he repaired a lamp in the living room and he came within 10 minutes because we had a problem with the oven. And he visited us several times to ask us whether everything is in order. An excellent service. Anyway we will recommend Villa Alicia. Kind regards from Norbert''

"Villa Alicia was a fantastic charming and rustic villa in a great secluded and quiet location with fabulous mountain views, the ambiance was magical and the weather was lovely ... not too hot. The pool was great and the property itself was clean and well maintained (thank you Brian) with all the necessary modern facilities. Both Steve and Brian were only a phone call away and provided us with all the information we required from taxi and restaurant telephone numbers to recommendation of places to visit.... which was much appreciated. The owner provided a good customer service.
The short walk into the village in the evenings were most enjoyable with a good selection of restaurants and bars. Only a short taxi ride to the resort of Coral Bay which had a great selection of restaurants (Hippopotamus & Poseidonas good prices, service and food) and fun entertainment.
Our favourite restaurant with outstanding views, food and great hospitality was "Viklari" also known as The Last Castle (follow directions for Avakas Gorge... but be warned you have to book in advance as it gets very busy but definitely not to be missed!
It is a good idea to hire a car so you can see the country side, beautiful beaches and mountains, all in all it was a fantastic holiday which surpassed our expectations and we are looking forward to returning next year. Our only complaint was that we wished our stay could have been longer.... 10 days was not enough !!! We would both be happy to recommend this villa to friends and family. Thank you for a memorable and wonderful holiday.

"Very good location, quite with great mountain views. Perfect for getting away from it all. We've now booked to come back in June 2009." (subsequently booked for June 2010 also)

"The villa was very private which was exactly what we wanted. The rustic feel was in evidence both inside and out. We enjoyed the walk into the village in the evenings where there was a good choice of places to eat with the food definitely surpassing our expectations."
Review submitted by Andrew from Edinburgh (Submitted: 23/10/2007)
"The property was comfortable with excellent facilities. The three bedrooms with their individual air conditioning and toilet facilities were excellent, as was the provision of kitchen equipment. The pool and outdoor seating were ideal for cooling down after a hot day. Pegeia village has some good restaurants, although we were unable to get food delivered as we did not have a complete address - I would expect street names will be put up once the nearby building work has been completed. As another reviewer commented a car is essential for this property but as long as this is realized then I can thoroughly recommend this villa."
