About this location
The Paphos District
Paphos is in the south-west corner of Cyprus and has an ambience all of its own. This is the kingdom of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, and her presence seems to linger. Paphos itself is really two towns; Ktima on the cliff and Kato Paphos by the sea. The one is unchanged over centuries and thoroughly Cypriot while the other has expanded over the last decade from a sleepy fishing village and harbour into a bustling, busy, sprawling cosmopolitan resort which is still growing. Roman Paphos was the island's capital and the 3rd century mosaics here are the finest in the Mediterranean. The atmosphere is fun loving and friendly, with plenty of bars, pubs, discos, a few nightclubs and innumerable eating places providing a choice of Italian cuisine to sizzling souvlaki off the spit.
The coastline to the north is peppered with small sandy coves. The area's best beach is a 15 minute drive away at Coral Bay. Paphos is an ideal centre from which to explore this region of wild coastline, unspoilt hillside villages and natural beauty. Paphos combines both culture and entertainment in a conveniently sized package. In Paphos you will find some of Cyprus' most stunning archaeological gems such as its Roman mosaics and Tomb of the Kings. Cultivated bananas grow in profusion along the south-western coast, which narrows to the Akamas Peninsula - one of the island's last unspoilt wildernesses and home to flora and fauna species found only on Cyprus. While Limassol is brash and Larnaca is demure, Paphos is quite, friendly and is one of Cyprus' most desirable cities. Kato Paphos (Lower Paphos) is home to the greatest number of archaeological sites on the island.
Coral Bay is only 11 kilometres to the north of Paphos and 3 kilometres below the friendly hillside village of Peyia. Coral Bay is the best natural Blue Flag beach in the area. This is an established resort with many villas set apart from one another above a wide curve of dark golden sand. The summer heat is often tempered by a gentle breeze. The sea is shallow and children can play safely. During the busier months, water sports for hire include pedalos, water skiing, banana boats, jet skis and windsurfing.
Peyia is a large friendly village - now designated a town with its own municipality. Peyia is tucked away in the hills about 3.5kms above Coral Bay and 15kms from Paphos. There are several coffee shops and welcoming tavern's which provide simple but excellent food. A picturesque drive north along winding roads through the Peyia forest and pretty villages brings you to the Akamas peninsula and the beaches of Latchi.
Polis and Latchi are situated on the wide Chrysohou Bay that runs along the north-west sweep of Cyprus, ideal for walks and offering stunning views to both sides of the island. Its attraction lies in it being quieter and a less developed region. Polis is much smaller and far more intimate than Paphos - the razzmatazz of mass tourism has not quite reached here yet. The northwest also gives easy access to the Paphos Mountains and has some interesting villages such as Droushia, Neo Chorio, Pomos and Pyrgos. Latchi with its coastal paved walk is the picturesque harbour of Polis - known for its fresh fish. In the past it served as a small port for shipping carobs. The old stone carob warehouses have been converted into restaurants, fish taverns and places of recreation. From Latchi, travellers to Polis can go on short sea cruises to the Akamas.
Pissouri is an attractive and friendly village to the East of Paphos. It is situated in the principal vine growing area with sultana grapes covering the surrounding countryside. This south-facing village set high up on the hillside about 1,000ft above the sea and commands the most magnificent view of some 20 miles of Mediterranean coastline. To the south and east there are panoramic views of the coast, across vineyards, olive and carob trees. To the north one can see the majestic Troodos Mountains. Pissouri is situated just off the main Paphos to Limassol road. Pissouri Village has a lovely flower-filled central square for pedestrians only. There is a Greek Orthodox Church, a bakery, postal agency, banks and small supermarkets. Several family-run taverna’s and restaurants serve excellent fresh food at competitive prices. In the summer months the village holds a Cyprus Night in the square every Wednesday evening. There's food and traditional Cypriot dancing; everyone is welcome!
Peyia, to the West of Paphos offers a truly scenic location - situated between the clear blue Mediterranean and the foot hills of the Ayiosa Yeovious mountain range. Just minutes outside Coral Bay Blue flag beaches and Paphos and ONLY just over 30 minutes from Paphos International Airport.
The village of Peyia and its surrounding area are full of tradition and activities for ALL the family - sun & sea or maybe history & culture.
Staying in Peyia offers you the BEST of ALL worlds, nature, nightlife, beaches and much more.

"Amazing week at the sunny dreams house"
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday to Cyprus, we stayed at the sunny dreams house peyia. From my initial enquiry right the through the booking process I couldn't speak highly enough of the experience. The owner is so efficient with literally every detail covered, from fantastic directions from the airport to the house to setting up wireless so that we could use the Internet during our stay. Everything was great. We arrived at the house in the late evening and found it really easily, it's in a great location in the hills of Paphos sporting fantastic views of the coast. The house itself is great, really spacious with a large kitchen, great air con, powerful shower and large bedrooms. We were delighted to discover that nobody else was staying in the neighbouring town houses which meant we had the pool to ourselves the entire week. The village is just a short walking distance from the house with a number of bars and restaurants, supermarket and beautiful church. The residents of the village were so welcoming and the staff at the mill bar were especially friendly- plus the food was great and cheap. Coral bay and Paphos are really close and just a short drive but we also noticed the bus routes were good too.
Overall the stay was fantastic, if you are looking at having a relaxing stay in Cyprus with beautiful views you should defiantly book the house. Thank you for such a wonderful stay we will definitely book again!
Many thanks for your review - we are so glad you enjoyed Sunny Dreams whilst in Cyprus.

"Fantastic apartment, amazing location!"
The apartment in Peyia is absolutly fantastic. Clean, tidy and modern with plenty of space. The set-up is fantastic enabling quiet nights in and BBQs. The location is perfect, only a 10 minute strole to the centre - a lot of apartments say this but it actually is. We were the only people who used the pool area all week so it felt like a private pool! Only minor negatives, the first is that the Sky TV didnt work at all for the whole week - we had 2 channels (movies for men and Sky news). The second which is minor but there isnt a dressing table or full length mirror in any of the rooms. We were there for a wedding so it was difficult getting ready. I took a mirror off the wall and balanced on a chair which was fine but not ideal. There was a mirror in the bathroom but no plug socket so you cant do your hair in there. Overall though a fantastic apartment and I really am being picky and we wouldnt hesitate in going back.

"it was a very pleasant stay"
Very nice and comfortable place, friendly people and nice view. Good for walking holidays. The house is nice and clean. Maybe wont fit the one who has light sleep though.... cocks and goats start bothering at early mornings. In the rest there is nothing to complain about.
Many thanks for your comments!

"Fantastic , quiet, laid back area . Nice accommodation, but need a few minor touches.."
Just arrived back from a lovely 2 weeks in Peyia , Cyprus . Been to Cyprus a few times now and stayed in different areas in and around paphos before and found Peyia to be one of our favorites. Easy to get to Peyia town 5 mins walking distance. We hired a car so it was 10 min drive to Coral Bay beach. I highly recommend dinner at Imogens a firm favorite not expensive but it is a winedy drive up the mountain to Kathikas.
The town house is a great location with views looking out over the island. The only negative points about the townhouse is there are no blackout blinds in the main double bedroom so when the sun came up in the morning it woke you up and the heat in the room would became unbearable, so we where forced to use the air-con and fans together and put a sheet up to darken the room. The floors didn't seem to have been washed before we arrived so i did have to go over them and there was mouldy food left in the kitchen cupboard which hadn't been thrown away . Unfortunately we were unable to use the pool the first week as it was very dirty and not kept but the next week we noticed one of the neighbors cleaning it out and it was fine to use after that but it was a bit disappointing as we did book partly because of the pool, i feel that it should be maintained if you are using it as a selling point to potential customers. The contact emergency number was not in service either the whole holiday. Overall we did love our holiday and the townhouse would be perfect if they just made a few minor changes, if you want a nice quite laid back holiday Peiya is the place to go.
Many thanks for your comments!

"new year In peyia"
Our week in Sunny Dreams over the new year period was very pleasant. The house was just right for us being about only a mile and a half from Coral Bay, which we could see from the patio. We walked in and back a few times but taxis were good and we used the public bus service on a few occasions.
We felt very comfortable there although it was quiet. We were pleased that we could enjoy the heating down stairs in the cold evenings !
We were surprised to find a number of good eating places in Peyia and some good shops, all within walking distance
We were not brave enough to try the pool but did manage to sunbathe on the patio, even on New Year's Day which was a first for us.
Overall we had a delightful experience at Sunny Dreams in Peyia. Perhaps we will go there earlier in the year, next time.
Many thanks for your comments!
