The Paphos District
Paphos on the East coast, is the birthplace of the Greek goddess of love and beauty - Aphrodite - a fitting location! Founded by Trojan Agapinor, Paphos was once the capital of Cyprus. Today, it is a bustling market town with plenty for the tourist to enjoy and explore.
The harbour, marina and Aqua Park centre are all attractions, along with the many harbour side restaurants and cafes that serve the fresh catch of the day. There is also Bar Street - who's title leaves little to the imagination. Many historic buildings and ruins offer a vision of bygone era's and the different cultures that have inhabitted the island. Gentle cruises around the island are a great way to relax, or if you prefer a longer cruise, catch a ferry to Egypt?
The Average Temperatures range from - High of 20 and Low of 12 in the months from Dec. to Mar., rising to High of 30+ and Low of 22 from July to Sept. (in degrees C).
Peyia area
Peyia - Whitewashed houses are set against a back-drop of hills with the Mediterranean at their feet. A relaxed pace of life makes this the perfect place to enjoy at any time of the year. A stroll into the village during the day to buy provisions can be made even more enjoyable by stopping to linger over a coffee or maybe a stronger drink in a taverna. Evenings are a perfect time to return to the centre of the village when the many cafes and restaurants in the central square come to life and you can enjoy a balmy Cypriot evening amongst the friendly and hospitable locals. Many weddings take place in the village, and these are a joy to witness.
Alternatively, a very short drive to Coral Bay provides a varying choice of eating-out establishment, or somewhere to stroll and take in a few glasses of wine, or for the more daring try the local "Zivania".
The Troodos Mountains are about a one and a half hour drive up spectacular mountain roads, and there are several monasteries to visit along the way, including the famous Kykko Monastery. There are three excellent golf courses within 25 minutes drive.
