Peyia / Peyia Village area
Peyia dates back to the years of the Venetian Rule. Shepherds came and settled in a cave near the Spring of Pegeiotisses creating a new settlement. Set in the foothills Peyia is north-west of Paphos, and combines unrivalled views of the sea with cool mountain air. It is one of the largest municipalities in Cyprus. It welcomes many visitors offering many natural beaches and a striking natural environment.
For those who are interested in the history of the region, there are a number of archaeological sites reflecting many different eras in Cypriot history.
The village has a warm welcome for everyone. Cypriot food at its best is offered in many tavernas dotted through the village. A 5 minute walk from the Vanessa complex is Savvas Grill, a very popular family run taverna with excellent food and traditional entertainment during the week. The village is home to many banks, wifi connection at The Grande Cafe, supermarkets, butchers, hairdressers, fishmongers and not forgetting the sumptuous bakeries with home-made bread, local delicasies and of course gorgeous cakes!!
How to get there
From Paphos International Airport a transfer time of between 40-50 minutes. A transfer service can be arranged. A car is necessary as Peyia is a village set in the hillside 15km away from Paphos town and 3km from Coral Bay. Many flights operate into Paphos on a daily basis from all over the world.
