The Central Southern England / Hampshire region
East Hampshire lies on the border with West Sussex and Surrey to the north. It has historic houses such as Uppark and Stansted Park and houses with literary connections such as Jane Austen's house at Chawton and Gilbert White's at Selbourne. Children will love the steam engines on the watercress line and Hollycombe and Birdworld is a must at Farnham. There is also lots of history in the cities of Winchester, Chichester and Portsmouth, a visit to King Henry VIII's ship at Portsmouth is not to be missed, along with the Spinnaker Tower.
Petersfield / Ramsdean area
Ramsdean is situated in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the foot of the South Downs (soon to become part of the South Downs National Park) and is perfect for walks and cycle rides. The pretty and historic town of Petersfield is just 3 miles away and offers lots of restaurants and cafes and local shops as well as supermarkets. Petersfield also offers a Heath with a boating lake, a pay and play golf course, an outdoor swimming pool and the Taro Leisure centre with pools, gym etc.
