About the home
The house is approached on foot (the nearest parking is some 200 metres away). The pay-off is a wonderful peaceful setting overlooking an outstandingly beautiful and dramatic panorama of rolling hills and valleys. Bed linen and towels and provided weekly. English speaking owners live near by. Own transport is essential.
The village of Vellano is set in the foothills of the Appenine Mountains, north of Pescia and within easy distance of Lucca, Florence and Pisa, the world famous spa town of Montecatini Terme and the beaches of Versilia and of Liguria including the Cinque Terre. In the wintertime it is about an hour’s drive from the little ski resort of Abetone.
There is splendid walking and hiking to be had in the surrounding hills and some traditional sagre (village fairs) are held during the summer months. The village boasts its own bakery, fresh bread every morning, food shop, post office and a restaurant, pizzeria open on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

The house has three double bedrooms; large lounge/dining room, two kitchens, two bathrooms and a covered terrace with outside dining. In winter there is gas central heating and a wood fired combustion stove in the lounge.

The house has a terrace which overlooks the most wonderful views of the valley. It has two entrances one from the terrace and a front door from the top of the house.

The house is made up of two apartments and can be rented as a whole property or as two separate properties. There is a door linking the two residents. It is a walk from the car park down the through the medieval village and therefore not appropriate for any one with any difficulties with mobility.
The Tuscany / Pistoia Province region


Tuscany is one of the most beautiful places in the world, hence its popularity with visitors from all over the world for centuries. It boasts some of the worlds most wonderful art and architecture in the cities of Florence, Lucca and Siena. The beauty of the mountains with its medieval villages and stunning view make it simply a feast of beauty for the eyes.
In addition to the wonders of the cities of Tuscany, it also has beautiful sandy beaches, sky resorts and is idle if you are interested in walking or biking holidays.
If you love food then the various restaurants with be a treat for you, not to mention the fantastic markets all selling their own home produced vegetables and fruit not to mention cheeses and fabulous olives and olive oil.
The Pescia / Vellano area
Vellano is one of the dieci castelli, 10 medieval villages set in the hills around Pescia. The villages were built between the 9th and the 11th centuries and were walled for protection.
The views from the village are simply breathtaking as one visitor described, it is ridiculously beautiful. It is only a twenty minute drive to Pescia, but it has a shop and post office a restaurant and a pizzeria in the small piazza which is open on a Saturday and Sunday night and well worth a visit. There are many other wonderful restaurants within a 10 to 15 minute drive and in Pescia itself you are spoilt for choice.
Pescia is a wonderful typical Italian town, it boasts a wonderful market on a Saturday morning which is really worth a trip, and it has great clothes shops and cafes.
