The Tuscany region

Pescia, the nearest town is only 12 minutes drive away and is a charming 13th century market town and internationally famous for its flower market. Elegant boutiques and restaurants, exotic thermal spas and treatments, comprehensive sporting facilities and sophisticated night-life can be found in Montecatini, a further ten minutes drive towards Pistoia and Florence. In the other direction, the irresistible walled city of Lucca and the nearest coastal resort of Viareggio with lovely sandy beaches are both under an hour away. The magnificence of Florence and Sienna are easily reached as well.

Pescia / Vellano area

Pescia is the local market town, 15 minutes drive and has supermarkets, retail, banks, superb restaurants and the usual facilties. The village of VELLANO is a kilometre by winding asphalted road and 15 minutes on foot up the hillside paths. VELLANO is a well-known panoramic viewing point for the whole of the ‘Svizzera Pesciatina'. Because of the location, gentle breezes arrive during the day and at night, in the very hot months of July and August. Vellano is also a well-known panoramic viewing point for the whole of the ‘Svizzera Pesciatina' and is quite lively with 2 local bars, restaurants, a bakery and small mixed store, paper shop, post office, and an active community centre.

Further details indoors:
The house entrance is at the rear with its own private terrace and 'cotto' tiled paved area, bordered by extensive planting and overlooking the rear olive groves and banks. It has views from all of the rooms to the rolling hills and medieval villages at the front of the house and the lounge is particularly attractive with a wonderful viewing gallery with easel and art materials for budding artists. The lounge is very beautifully furnished with an eight seater dining table, 3 seater sofa, two armchairs and antique pieces. The kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms are bright and spacious.

Two highlights of the villa are that an Italian cookery master-class can be provided by Antonio, a wonderful chef with rich experience in Montecatini hotels and regional restaurants. He will agree the menu with you, purchase the ingredients, demonstrate the preparation of a four course meal and then serve a gastronomic delight at 50 euros a head (supplement applied for less than 4 people). Additionally, tutoring in all the art of painting for all abilities is also available at the Villa individually or in groups, provided by Lorenza who owns an art studio in Montecatini. Please ask for further details.

Further details outdoors:
The Villa has a full hectare of grounds for walking, with terraces reaching the top enabling even more stunning views of the Valley. There are hammocks and seating located at various spots to enjoy the scenery and relax and a feature of the house is a well planted garden featuring a variety of roses and flowering shrubs. The grounds are well lit affording comfort and safety at night.

Guestbook

'We had an absolutely fantastic time, with the only downside being that we had only made it for one week!
We arrived just after lunch and the beautiful house, view and pool were more than we ever expected.
The evening with Antonio was a highlight of our trip. Such a nice fellow and an excellent cook, and despite the language barrier, we found a way to communicate, so much so that we eventually persuaded him to join us for dinner.'
- Lucy, July 2008

'We had an absolutely wonderful time at your Villa; thought it was in a fantastic position, loved the garden, the tranquillity and would happily return some day. We made 2 visits to Lucca which we loved and we got to one of the Puccini festival concerts'.
-Sally July 2008.

'We all really enjoyed staying at the villa. The view was superb and we loved eating out on the pebbly terrace overlooking the pool. We did an awful lot of staying at home reading and swimming and eating!'
- Miranda August 2008.
