About this location
The Lazio region
Home of the Latins and then the Romans, Lazio is an ancient land, where signs of past grandeur are found in every corner of its amazing landscapes, fitting perfectly into the colourful and varied natural setting. The historical architectural, archaeological and artistic heritage combines harmoniously with the surrounding environment, ranging from the Apennine Mountains to plains and hills; where the parks and nature reserves testify to the ancient origins of unspoilt sites, together with splendid lakes and the shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The northern part of Lazio, which goes by the name of Tuscia in the Province of Viterbo, is one of the most interesting and fascinating areas of Central Italy. Extending over the Volsini, Cimini and Sabatini Mountains to Lake Bolsena and then to the Tyrrhenian coast, Tuscia has varied landscapes, charming old towns and Etruscan necropolises of enormous historical and cultural value.
The Sabina area is in the north-eastern part of the region, bordering on Umbria, Marche and Abruzzo, in the territory of the Province of Rieti, extending from the banks of the Tiber to the rather low, isolated Sabini range and the Reatini extension of the central Apennines, location of the highest mountain, Terminillo, with an altitude of 2,213 m. And then there is the coastal area of the Province of Latina extending from the Alban Hills to theLepini and Ausoni mountains. A unique area, a marine terrace including the unforgettable Circeo promontory and the splendid Pontine Islands.
South-east of Rome we come to the Ciociaria valley, a land of history, culture and tradition including the flat and hilly areas of the Liri and Sacco valleys; theErnici mountain area, and, on the other side, the inland slopes of the coastal ranges of the Lepini, Ausoni and Aurunci.
The village of Pescia Romana consists of two main parts: the Borgo Nuovo and the Borgo Vecchio, as well as a myriad of scattered farm houses in the surrounding countryside, the two villages, the oldest, was developed, presumably after the year 1700, around a small church built by the Jesuits and dedicated to their founder, St. Ignatius of Loyola.
The latest core, close to the main road Aurelia, was inaugurated in 1961 and is one of the finest examples and harmonious rural community, incurred following the land reform implemented since the early fifties through the Ente Maremma.
Core of the New Village is the church of St. Joseph the Worker, hexagonal, hexagonal dome also on the ceiling of which are fine frescoes, as well as the central altar and the fountain outside the building.
The area has developed since the fifties, thanks to the agrarian reform implementation in those years that lands previously distributed shares of estates in Italian families originate mainly of Lazio.
Today Pescia Romana is an agricultural center that produces cereals, fruits and vegetables intended for large-scale commercialization and, given its proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea, a resort with tourist facilities still expanding. There are many tourists who visit Pescia Romana, attracted by the beauty of the countryside and the possibility of making excursions into nature and artistic culture around the town: Monte Argentario, Capalbio, Sovana, Saturnia, WWF Burano, Tarot Garden of Garavicchio , Vulci (archaeological Park, Etruscan Museum and WWF), Montalto di Castro, Tarquinia.
The beach is 8 km long., All in their natural state, and has behind him a pillow absolutely intact
