Home description
This is a real seaside paradise.
Sandy beaches with restaurants, bars and cafes line the shore. Ice cream palours are on the doorstep. A flat promenade stretches for miles in each direction with a car-free cycle route on the seafront and beyond. Fresh fish is available daily from sea front stalls (out of peak season) along with markets selling locally produced food and tourist gifts of every description. This is also a great base from which to research the area if you are looking to buy property.

The Marche / Abruzzo / Abruzzo region
Abbruzo is reletively unused by British holiday makers. However it is a firm favourite with the Italians as any look at the beach economy will show. It is warm and sunny in the region most of the year with temperatures reaching more than 30 C in the summer months.
As well as the seaside, this region is famous for its mountains and the ancient sheep migrations across them. These tracks are now used by skiers but the history is evident everywhere and is retained in the wonderful lamb dishes.
Pescara / Montesilvano area
In high season you will probably be seeking the beach for rest and relaxation but the area has other charms that are best enjoyed in spring or autumn when it not quite so hot. The area is famous for its flora and fauna so walking, cycling or horse riding in the local hills or either of the TWO national parks nearby are reccomended.
Easter festivals in the area are excellent, Chieti is reccommended and only a bus ride away.
For serious sightseers, the apartment is a good strategic base being 2½ hours by coach from Rome, 4 hours ferry from the Dalmatian Coast (Split in Croatia) Slovenia and the rest of Eastern Europe. It is central so you can travel up north to Bologna, Venice, the lakes etc. or further south to Naples, Sorrento and Sicily. Regional trains are a joy, as an alternative to road travel. However, you might need a longer holiday to fit everything in…
How to get there
This delightful, modern apartment is right on the seafront on one of Italy’s most popular holiday destinations, Montisilvano, Near Pescara on the Adriatic coast. 2½ hours from Stansted Airport (Ryanair) ½ hour door to door the other end

Further details indoors: A great (and safe) way to get around is by bike. These can be hired very cheaply in season from a shop 5 minutes from the apartment.
Fresh fish is avialable daily from the fishermen who still work from traditional boats on this coast.
There are several markets to find bargins including a Tuesday local produce market when all the small holders sell their wares and the tourist markets in the evenings.
Further details outdoors: A modern shopping arcade is 15 minutes walk away incorporating amusement arcade and cinema. There is also a child friendly fun fare in the same place. When you have had enough of the beachfront, cycle or take bus into Pescara city for cosmopolitan shopping, café society and night life.
If architecture, culture, natural beauty or walking are more your scene, dont miss the exquisite village of Silvi Paese at the top of the hill outside Montesilvano. This is just one of just a few to sample in the region. The contrast to beach life is notable. Up in the villages the pace of life is very slow, its quiet and peaceful, yet people are equally friendly - not to be missed!
Further details
If you want explore further, take a car inland to the hills and then the famous Gran Sasso mountains and Majella National Park. Spectacular in summer for their wildlife, scenery and roman archaeology - in winter it is possible to drive up and ski within an hour’s journey of the apartment. The roads are generally good quality with reasonably priced autostrada to take you quickly to your destination.

Guestbook for Marevista
We had a lovely time in Montesilvano. We thought it was a lovely resort and found some good restaurants to eat at, also a really good pub nearby that sold good beer. We couldn't believe how friendly everyone was. The apartment is in a lovely position overlooking the sea and comfortable for 2 people. We would certainly like to go back. Many thanks Penny and Mike Regards Ann and Ian B. September 2009
I would like to thank you for the apt...........it was a real joy. Anna Di C from Canada. July 2009.
Just to let you know we had a nice time in Montesilvano. You are very lucky to have a place there. The best thing about our visit was the location. A very lively family orientated, Italian resort with great ice cream parlours. I thought it was a bit noisy at night (after midnight) but it is a busy resort so should be expected. I would rate the apartment 9 out of 10. Very comfortable, very clean and all mod cons. I would rate the area 9 out of 10 as well. Lots to do, very close to beach, shops. Even Pescara city centre isn’t that far on foot, bike etc. There isn’t really anything I would change that would improve the experience of others visiting. I thought everything was spot on from initial contact, payment, meeting Francesca, keys etc. N.B. We think Davide the concierge is a ‘top bloke’-very helpful and friendly. We would love to go back in the not too distant future. .
ND and family, Bedford, August 2009
The best thing about our visit was that the apartment is in such a beautiful area, Abbruzzo was a revelation and the people watching opportunities were excellent. The worst thing about our visit is really difficult because we enjoyed ourselves so much we didn't have any issues. Apartment score out of 10 = 8, great for 2 adults. Area score out of 10 = 9. Mr & Mrs Evans, March 2009
A lovely clean apartment with the most fabulous views. We went very early in the year and it was very cold, but we did enjoy our mornings in the apartment when we would walk around the corner to the deli/bakery and buy breakfast to enjoy sitting at the window in the apartment looking across the sea. Lots of restaurants close by and the most wonderful ice-creams! Penny and Mick were extremely helpful with giving us a list of things to see and places to go. Can’t wait until our next visit. Mrs H, March 2008
A very comfortable apartment and a fabulous view overlooking the beach. Montesilvano was a lovely seaside town, with interesting shops in the town centre and a Warner Village Cinema close by. Easy to get to Rome via train across wonderful scenery and we also would recommend a visit to L'Aquilla, a picturesque old market town. We found the Francesca the representative who met us at the Airport extremely helpful and Davide the caretaker was very friendly. We cannot wait to go back. Ratings: Location - 10/10; facilities - 8/10; comfort - 9/10; booking arrangements - 10/10
