The Marche / Abruzzo / Abruzzo region
Abruzzo is located in central Italy and has over 50km of sandy white beaches. It is only 90 minutes drive from the beaches to the mountain top and only an hour's drive to an excellent ski resort.
The region is renowned for stunning natural beauty, fine wines, excellent weather, wild life, culture, arts, gastronomy and night life.
The Pescara / Pineto area
With less than a 2 minute walk though the famous pine forest to the beach front, this apartment offers everything you could want for that outdoor beach and pool holiday, especially if you have children.
Situated in the pretty town of Pineto, one of seven seaside towns along the Adriatic coast called the “Seven Sisters” and voted the prettiest seaside towns in the region.
Pineto is a truly beautiful old town steeped in history with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. In the peak season the roads in Pineto town centre are closed to traffic to allow you to relax and take a stroll or for the more adventurous, hire a bike for 2 or 4 and take a scenic ride or simply stay on your own personal balcony for that evening glass of local wine.
Old medieval towns like Old town Silvi, Atri and Citta Sant Angelo are all within a short driving distance for excursions if you can manage to break away from the beach, or visit Gran Sasso National Park or Maiella Mountains for views, scenery and wildlife to remember forever.

Fly to pescara - pineto is just 35 minutes drive from the airport
Daily cheap flights available from Ryanair.com, from Stansted airport to Pescara.
With Rome only two hours' drive away, there are plenty of opportunities to drive the scenic route through the Abruzzo and take advantage of budget airlines flying into Fiumicino and Ciampino airports.
A car can be hired from the airport for about 33 euros per day, and companies such as Hertz, Avis, Europcar and Autoeuropa offer fantastic early-bird deals - check online.
Regular bus and train services, cost around 5 euros, available from the airport to central Pescara and from there to Pineto. Allow between 45 minutes to an hour if travelling by bus or train.
Taxi service also available from the airport and costs around 35 euros.

Beautiful well furnished clean apartment. Competent helpful agents, reasonably priced. Located within walking distance (5 mins for family with two children 6 and 4) of a lovely beach. The beach bar is called marcos, serves lovely food and is run by an absolute gent in marco and his family. All these places have umbrellas and kids play areas.. Right in front of you in the U shaped street is a restaurant and pizzeria. there is a bar with tvs for sport and so on on the corner of the street also again run by a very decent proprieter. There is a small shop across the street from the bar with everything you need but five minutes drive towards silvi there is a large supermarket which has a kids play area on the top floor where you can leave the children, supervised for a small fee while you shop and a bakery and ice cream parlour just up the street as well. On one of the side streets near the beach is a little place which cooks barbecued food which you can buy and eat on one of the picnic tables at the beach. There are nice restaurants in pineto but if you are willing to drive there are two gems of restaurants in La rusticula towards silvi and casale de cinque quercia both of whom charged us between 40 and 60 for a full meal wine water and meals for the kids in avery very italian setting (you will need mountaineering skills to get to casale :-) ) There are tons of things to see and do and the villages arouns here up in the hills are beautiful with lovely places to eat everyywhere and once you move away from the beach front and main street the value is exceptional. Book this and enjoy is my advice. The down side if there is one is the drive for irish people from bologna or rome which is long but well worth it and the pool was not open due to flooding earlier in the year |
