The Marche/Abruzzo region

Abruzzo is the best environmentally protected region in Europe and has it all, the national parks, nature reserves, scenery, wildlife, lakes, mountains, hilltop towns, churches, museums, art, architecture, local wine & cuisine, thermal springs & spas, castles, festivals, hermitages, rivers, waterfalls, abbeys and archaeological sites. It is also home to the marsican brown bear, wolves, wild boar.

A third of the area of Abruzzo is protected and it is a marvellous place for nature-watching. It has three National Parks (National Park of Gran Sasso-Laga, National Park of Abruzzo and National Park of Maiella), a regional park (Park of Sirente-Velino) view which can be enjoyed from the apartment and more than 30 nature reserves and oases.

The Adriatic coast with its pines and palm-lined promenades is only 25 minutes drive from Le Gallele, so you can spend all day at the beach enjoying the turquoise waters or just relaxing on the sand. with133km of seaside and coastline with blue flag beaches waiting for you to soak up the sun and there are water sports facilities, and the golden sands are clean and safe for children. The resorts are modern with a good selection of restaurants and cafés.

Characteristic features of the southern coast of Abruzzo are the 'trabocchi', which are distinctive wooden structures that look like spiders, used for fishing.

Activities in the region include skiing, walking, cycling, mountaineering, horse riding, canoeing, fishing, shooting, cross country skiing, equestrian trekking, windsurfing, mountain biking and golf.

Climate: We are fortunate to enjoy long hot summers, warm springs and autumns with the winter being short and quite mild but with snow on the surrounding mountains.

With so much to explore, we can provide information on tours by guides or which you can do yourself and discover Abruzzo and make the most of this beautiful part of Italy, as we have carefully prepared to ensure that you fully enjoy all that the region has to offer.

The charming village of Rosciano,is set between both the Maiella and Gran sasso national parks a typical Italian village, with local tradition very much at its heart, which has a beautiful medieval tower and local bars, shops, restaurants, wine cantinas and an olive press.

With many Festas (parties) held through out the year, especially during the summer months, where you will find typical Abruzzo foods, wine and music, with something for all ages. A great way to get into the local spirit and soak up the atmosphere of real local life.

The modern and lively city of Pescara is just 20 minutes away and also has many events on through out the year, including the renowned Jazz festival, cycling events and various road-shows. With a host of restaurants and bars you'll never be short of something to do.
