We must say the villa exceeded the web description - very pretty, immaculately maintained, comfortable furniture and good views from the terrace where we ate most of our meals. There was plenty of friendly advice from the owners, and there is internet access in the villa. Access to popular Umbrian & Tuscan places is good including Gubbio, Assisi, Montefalco, Siena, Montepulciano, Lake Trasimeno and more. We like to go at this time of year when it's cooler and quieter, but if you like more heat the pool area is very pleasant and although we didn't use the pool (could have) we spent some relaxing hours round it. We flew into Florence, and Rome is a similar distance, but you can also fly into Perugia which is only about a 20 minute drive away. We have already recommended it to most of our relatives. Response: Thank you for taking the time to write your kind comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at La Torretta and were able to explore the many wonderful places in the area. We look forward to welcoming your friends and relatives in the future. Best wishes, Barry & Beaulah. |

Guestbook for La Torretta
A perfect first week of our honeymoon
Review Submitted: July 14, 2010 Date of Stay: June 2010
The pre-arrival checks and other thoughtful touches made arrival a stress free and delightful experience. We thought, future guests, of listing places to visit, but it is a waste of space and time – just ask Barry & Beaulah! They will come up with a number of suggestions for whatever you want: - remote, busy, hilltop, valley floor, Roman remains or astounding frescoes. Just ask and have a pen and a map handy.
Umbria from 1000 feet up in a hot air balloon in perfect silence should be a must on everyone’s list. The in-flight entertainment is only bettered by the Prosecco breakfast on landing. We have read all the other comments and can only agree with them. Attention to detail is the secret of La Torretta.
We will definitely be back to continue to explore Umbria under the Bower’s superb local knowledge – built though experience!

Truly a Beautiful Villa !
Review Submitted: October 12, 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010
We stayed for 2 weeks on this beautiful property, lots of different areas to relax in, very private location with awesome views and sunsets!
The outside is meticulously cared for. A lovely pool with cascading waterfall and gorgeous flowers everywhere.
Great kitchen for cooking in (even barbecues by the pool) , very comfortable beds, extremely clean (high quality linens and towels).
Hosts were very knowledgeable and helpful with areas to visit and especially recommendations for restaurants. We really felt like "we were living in Italy" without the tourism.
We would not hesitate to return... worth every penny!
If an American looking to see the Umbrian countryside in close proximity to many of the old Italian towns..... this is it! We would be pleased to welcome any inquiry.

The Perfect Honeymoon - June 2011
Review Submitted: June 26, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011
Having just spent a week at La Torretta we can only say that we agree 100% with all of the other comments we have read about this stunning property. The attention to detail is incredible - in the building itself, in the breathtakingly beautiful gardens and in the way the entire property in run and maintained. The photographs simply do not do it justice.
We had every intention of taking some time to explore Umbria, but in the end only left the property on two days (and even then only for the morning)! It is simply so relaxing and such a wonderful place to be that you won't want to be out and about.
We could write many paragraphs singing the praises the fabulous La Torretta but in reality only one word is required: perfect.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. It was a pleasure to be able to provide you with all that you required. Barry & Beaulah.

Escape to an Umbrian Idyll
Review Submitted: January 23, 2012 Date of Stay: July 2011
La Torretta is a charming and romantic villa tastefully decorated and beautifully located with distant valley views but set comfortably within a glorious and immaculately kept garden overlooking the owner's olive grove. The patio is a wonderful place to admire the view and watch the changing colours of the countryside and the swimming pool is enormous. One can relax at the pool with a book, enjoy the scent of the roses and make use of the outdoor gazebo and BBQ.
After a day's exploring of the Umbrian and Tuscan towns it is wonderful to return to the tranquility and warmth of La Torretta.
