The Umbria region
The region of Umbria is traditionally considered the green heart of Italy. Guests are always enchanted with the dazzling views of historic villages perched on the Umbrian hills.
Perugia area
Perugia, the regional capital is certainly worth a visit with its narrow, winding medieval streets. A memorable experience can also be enjoyed in the dark, mysterious passageways of the old underground quarter which runs under the fortress at La Rocca Paolina.
The myriad of restaurants where diners can savour the traditional dishes of Umbria and Italian cuisine in general are always popular with visitors. Locals are extremely friendly; they have long been accustomed to the presence of visitors from other countries as Perugia is the home of the prestigious University for Foreigners for Italian Language Studies. Finally, the Umbria Jazz Festival (during the July month) and Eurochocolate (during the October month) are local events which should not be missed!

OUR GUEST Kathy from Canada WRTE A COMMENT THAT CAN HELP YOU TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS VILLA NUBA :
Location:
The villa is located in the countryside on a hill just outside Perugia so it is within walking distance of the old walled city. Because it is sitting on a hill the views are just fantastic and it is so quiet. It is a 1400's converted Farm House and the host family live in one separated side of the property and they have converted the remainder into three luxurious apartments, two larger ones and one studio apartment. There is a beautiful new swimming pool as well as a computer set up for guest use. Whilst we were there one of the other apartments were in use but you would never know that anyone was there since everything is planned so well. The biggest plus for us was the incredible hospitality shown by the family. On arrival we received a welcome basket, which contained all the necessary ingredients for our first mornings breakfast and a few other significant goodies. We were driven around locally so that we had an idea where everything deemed necessary was located and nothing was ever too much trouble. Giuseppe will also organize all different activities and be your guide to different places if you would like that. He helped me rent a car before I arrived as well as picking us up at the Railway Station so that I could follow him to the Villa.
Nearby Amenities:
There was a supermarket type grocery store just a five minute walk from the house and in fact the host of the Villa took us on our first trip so that he could introduce us and point out all the local produce etc.
Garden:
There was a nice private outdoor sitting area and there was a beautiful new enclosed pool which you share with the other two apartments. There was also one parking spot for each apartment all of which is behind locked gates.
Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas
: The apartment was lavishly furnished. All the furniture was antique and in wonderful condition. The level of cleanliness was outstanding and there were lots of chairs in the living/dining room. The view from the living/dining room window was just outstanding and there was also an open fireplace for cooler weather.
Bedrooms/Bathrooms:
The beds were very comfortable. We were four sisters so we utilized all the beds available. There was a very large antique bed in one bedroom. In another bedroom there were twin beds (which can be changed to another double) and then in the Living Room there was a pull down sofa which my sister said was incredibly comfortable. There was only one bathroom but even with four senior sisters we didn't have a problem. The bathroom was luxurious with a jacuzzi tub and it was spotlessly clean and all tiled. There was a hair dryer as well as a clothes washer with the dryer in a different location.
Kitchen:
The kitchen was of equal quality. Stainless steel fridge, dishwasher, gas stove, lots of excellent pots and pans. It had a door which opened on to the garden at the back with an excellent screening system. They have truly thought of everything. We cooked full meals on two or three occasions and thoroughly enjoyed it. They provided complete instructions for the use of all appliances in Italian, English and I believe German.
Problems or Bonuses:
We encountered no problems at all and by far the greatest bonus was the hospitality shown by both Giuseppe and his parents. Nothing was too much trouble and his English was very good. If you didn't need any help you didn't even know they were there but any help you needed was offered. I just can't say enough good things about Villa Nuba - it was truly a Paradise.
Agency and Representatives (and price):
I booked directly off the web so no Agency was involved. As stated above it was very valuable that Giuseppe spoke English and everything published on line on both their own website as well as the site where we found it listed was very accurate. We also felt the rent of Euro 1,180 per week for the apartment was an excellent value. I also found the booking procedure was very concise and the attention to detail was excellent. I received almost immediate replies to all my communications. As well they recommended a car rental company (at my request).
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would not hesitate to recommend Villa Nuba to anyone. One of my sisters is a Reservations Manager for the largest Helicopter Skiing company in the world who certainly understands "service" and she would highly recommend it. The only minor irritant we found was that since it is a gated estate we had to shuffle the key situation around. With four sisters who sometimes wanted to go their separate ways we had to ask for extra keys and jockey things around but other than that I can only offer high praise.
Things to do in this area:
Around Perugia there were many really interesting towns including Assisi, Gubbio, Lake Trasimeno and all these places have so many interesting museums, churches, walks, great shopping in Perugia itself and since it is a walled city all the streets were so interesting. Giuseppe will recommend restaurants in all the towns around and with the exception of one in Assisi they were all excellent. In Perugia the restaurant Il Cantinone was outstanding and the first time we went we arrived at closing time (2.30) for lunch but when we mentioned we were from Villa Nuba they insisted we come in and they stayed late and made us feel so welcome.
