Home description
Villa Cerqualto is a private home, rustic and very romantic. It is surrounded by immense oak trees and completely restored with organic and natural materials. It has air filtered roof which works like an natural air condition.
With refined décor, the house is furnished with antiques originating from the owners' aristocratic family line.The 8 ha estate is owned by a countess, who produces the estate's own biological wine & olive oil, she lives in a separate house.
The house is about 200 years old and is positioned on a hill with an enticing view. The pool is gently set within the olive grove and is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. The property consists of 8 hectares (or about 16 acres) on which the proprietor also produces organic wine and olive oil.
A few steps from the kitchen terrace is the wooden pergola with a tiled roof and overgrown with Roses, Jasmine and Vines.
The large table seats up to 12 guests and is sheltered by to much sun or the occasional raindrop. A stone built barbecue with integrated basin is alongside. A natural terrace/ridge gives shelter from cool wind in the evening or early and late season. A small kitchen garden provides you with herbs, tomatoes and salad for your dinners under the stars.

The Umbria region
By train (station is 10 min. far from the house) you can reach Rome and Florence within 1 and 1/2 h. A lovely cultural and panoramic road drives you to the seaside of Tuscany, Santo Stefano and Monte Agentario (it is about 90 km far from Villa Cerqualto).
You can easily reach the Bolsena Lake, a volcanic lake shortly after Orvieto, the most important Etruscan town in Italy.
Perugia, Assisi, Montefalco, Siena and Arezzo (Antic market) can be reached in about 40 min.
Perugia / Citta della Pieve area
In mid August there is the palio in Cittá della Pieve. Jazz Festival in summer and winter. 4 Spa´s in the neighbourhood.
Trasimeno Lake is very near: you can rent a boat to visit the lake's islands enjoying delicious fish restaurants. Many events in summer like jazz Festival or the Palio in Cittá della Pieve are worth a visit.
How to get there
In Città della Pieve, half way between Rome and Florence (both easily reached in a little over an hour), one will find Villa Cerqualto, at the border of Umbria and Tuscany. Since a few weeks you can fly directly from London to Perugia. Best Airports are Rome, Florence, Pisa and Perugia.
The House is situated on the hills near Tuscany, 311 slm, between Monteleone d´Orvieto and Città della Pieve, few kilometers from Cetona, San Casciano de Bagni (hot springs), Orvieto, the wildlife isles of Alviano and Montepulciano, near Chiusi, an Etruscan town.

Indoor shutters easy to close and open. 2 large fireplaces for cool spring and autumn evenings, one large basket of wood is included for each fireplace. If you come and stay in winter you will find a warm house welcoming you.
The house has two open fireplaces. Modern central heating and very good isolation of windows and floors. A communal meeting/dining room and professional kitchen for large groups are also available at the neighbouring house, for separate rental in case of family celebrations, group activities or courses. Often you can luncheon outside in the sun in several sheltered corners of the house. Cooked Dinners or/and Shopping Hot Springs nearby.
Assistance: Helpful owner-caretaker in separate house, independent from the villa, to ensure complete privacy. Garden, lawn & pool maintenance. Maid service extra, (Sat & mid-week).Weekly change of linen & towels.

Conditions
Everything was on our holidays has been a luxurious feast for the senses - from the delicious meal you cooked on our first night, to the magical sight of foxes, glow-worms and bee-eaters, the chorus of frogs and the refreshing thunderstorm that broke the heat on our last day.
This is a wonderful place to retreat from civilization and we feel totally regenerated.
