Casa Fontanelle sleeps 12 guests in 6 generously sized double bedrooms, has 4 bathrooms, 2 en suite, satellite tv and DVD and offers sweeping views from all four sides of the house and terraces as well as a 11m x 6m heated swimming pool. Now with high-speed Wi-fi Internet.

Enjoying a hillside position very close to the small villages of Cerqueto (3km) and Spina (2.5km) directly halfway between Perugia and Todi in Central Umbria, set in just over 1 acre of grounds with gardens, cypress trees and young olive trees.

The house has been fully restored over the last 3 years but retains many original features including hand made terracotta pianelli floors, a characteristic Umbrian arched kitchen, wooden beamed ceilings, large rooms with high ceilings and long views, terraces to catch the sun all day long, and seating both inside and outside for 12 people.

The Umbria region

Assisi, Orvieto, Spoleto, Spello (restaurant il Molino), Lake Trasimeno (boat trips, wind surfing, child-friendly beach), are all within a 45 minute drive from the house. Cortona (the location for the film; Under the Tuscan Sun) Gubbio. Arezzo (the location for the town shots in the oscar-winning film La Vita e Bella) Citta di Castello, Terni and Norcia are all about 1 hour drive away. Also local are a variety of small hilltop towns which include; Torgiano (15km) - Wine museum of the Lungarotti Cantina, Montefalco (40km) – Famous for its textiles and wine (sagrantino), Bevagna (45km) – (restaurant Osteria del Podesta) and Trevi (50km).

Siena (115km) in Southern Tuscany is 90minutes away. Florence (140km), and Rome (175km) are about 2 hours drive.

The Perugia / Mercatello area

11 kms away is the town of Marsciano. It has 2 supermarkets and a full range of shops, banks, cafes and a post office, plus a lively weekly market and a wide selection of restaurants.
The nearest village is Spina (2.5kms) which has a mini-market for essential items, a bank with bancomat, chemist, butcher, post office and a café.

Perugia is 20km to the north and Todi 20km to the south. As the house is so well positioned and has quick access to the E45 Superstrada many famous towns can be visited for just a morning or afternoon visit. Leaving you with the rest of the day to relax leisurely by the pool or enjoy a cool glass of wine from the local cantina.

“Fabulous location and amenities” This beautiful refurbished farmhouse is warm and welcoming. The location is ideal to visit surrounding towns and villages, returning at the end of the day to relax, have a swim and take in the stunning view. Highly recommended!

“Fabulous villa in stunning location.” The villa is beautifully designed and decorated. Great set up for a family holiday or a group of friends. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Garden and surroudings are enclosed so very safe for children. We loved the pool area for relaxing in the sunshine and taking in the wonderful scenery. The surrounding area is lovely and all the locals welcome you. We had wonderful authentic food and eating experiences and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner of the villa was incredibly helpful and saw to our every need. Would love to go back.

“Happy Times” This villa lived up to all of our expectations and the owner, the management team and the lovely lady who provided fabulous Italian feasts all went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful stay at Casa Fontanelle. The villa has been furnished and equipped with great care and and with good quality products.Although the villa is rural there are many small town close by where you are able to find every thing you will need, however a car is essential. PS Make sure you arrange for Laura to provide you with dinner on at least one of your nights, her food is fantastic and the price is very reasonable.

“Happy family time in beautiful comfortable surroundings” We are recently returned from a week at this amazing farmhouse in the stunning Umbrian countryside - we were a party of 10, covering 3 generations of my family and including two wee boys aged 4 and 1. The villa was extemely comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. It has obviously been lovingly built, with attention to detail - the garden is large, completely fenced in for peace of mind with youngsters and well laid out with olive trees and lots of space. The pool area is gorgeous and very close to the house - it is not enclosed at all, so the children needed to be constantly monitiored while out there, but that was not a problem in our case. The villa is in a fairly remote location, but has incredible views of the rolling Umbrian countryside and there are a myriad of small villages and towns within near driving distance, which provide shops, restaurants, garbage disposal etc - car essential. It is also within easy driving distance of many of the beautiful mediaeval cities which abound in Italy. There is no shortage of things to do and see or of wonderful very reasonably priced food. The owner of the villa was extremely helpful and thoughtful with advice on every possible aspect of our holiday, ensuring we had the best possible time. This holday rental would be ideal for families and large gropups of friends of all ages - I thoroughly recommend it!

“Beyond our expectations! Absolutely amazing property. Awesome location. We would love to return !!!!” Graham the owner provides the most incredible level of customer service & professionalism. The house is modern and extremely functional. We were a large group of 13 people - ranging from 1-80 yrs old! The house was comfortable & perfectly equipped for all of us. The pool is a bonus. Heated in May! We swam everyday. The location / the home cooked meals by the neighbour and the information pack provided helped us immensely & allowed us to enjoy the best local food. Thanks to Graham & the caretakers Tony & Karen for a dream holiday come true.

“Fantastic house with everything a family could want” Lovely house in a beautiful rural location. The house was so well set up and we were very greatful for the welcome pack containing the essentials of water, wine, pasta ( and more)! We travelled with a 10 month old and were provided with cot and high chair. The weather was good and we had plenty of chance to use the heated pool. In the evenings we made use of the extensive collections of games and books, not to mention satellite tv. The local caretakers were very helpful and made sure everything was ok. Having an English voice at the end of the phone was very helpful when our son was taken ill. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and I would highly recommend this property. Thanks, graham for sharing your home with us.

“sure to exceed your most positive expectations.” Picture this: You're in the heart of Italy, rolling green hills with low mountains beyond. Tidy family farms, vineyards and olive grooves dot the landscape in an area only lightly touched by tourism. Nonetheless, you are an easy day-trip to Assisi, Orvieto and Cartona, three astoundingly engaging mid-size towns with both Firenze and Roma not excluded. Now, top it off by staying in a perfectly wonderful domicile, rustic in feel but modern in age and accoutrements whose proprietor is the very model of manners; friendly, fair, efficient and overall, immensely helpful. Tips: Don't expect States-side domestic electrical service in this area. It all works perfectly fine but has some mild eccentricities compared to the USA. Get over it. Power ain't cheap here and this is the country. Besides, there's plenty of hot water. (An important concern for a lot of people on vacation.) Take complete advantage of Laura's and Gigi's offer to cook super for you. We availed ourselves three time during our weeklong stay. It's home party cooking Italian style, delicious and a great bargain. Accept the offer and schedule a 'night out' at the local family farm/trattoria. Great rustic feed and it's a hoot feeding the donkeys biscotti. Make the day-trips to the three towns listed above. You will not regret it. Finally, if you use the pool towels please launder them and hang them out to dry before you leave as the management has requested. Don't be rude. Peace.

“Casa Fontanelle and Umbria were magnificent” From the first inquiry to the day we arrived at Casa Fontanelle eveything was taken care of. The villa was eveything and more that the advertisment described. We had a lovely holiday with friends and were lucky to have perfect weather and we all enjoyed the heated swimming pool and surrounding countryside. The two meals booked by the owner were excellent and gave us a real taste of Umbria. I will be recommending this property to my Australian friends.

“Best Holiday!” The villa is in an ideal location surrounded by sunflower fields and vineyards. The attention to detail at the villa was tops. It is isolated enough to be very private but close enough to be able to visit many historic places. Rural eateries were fantastic and easy to find. The villa and its facilities are a credit to the owners and managers of the property

“The dream villa destination.” Casa Fontanelle is an absolute delight. We have travelled much across Umbria over the years and of all of the villa accommodation we have rented, Casa Fontanelle is the best we have experienced. It is a charming property in a wonderful location, with superb 360 deg views and has everything to facilitate a comfortable and carefree stay. The owners have gone to every length to help; their local information and tangible support and assistance is second to none, and in a country where swimming pools are usually replenished with cold well water to have a large heated pool is a true luxury. They even provide a separate drinks fridge and the authentic home cooking that can be arranged from a neighbour is excellent. All this and the adjacent cantina, which sells great wines inexpensively, together with wonderful sunsets make for a holiday to be remembered. Casa Fontanelle is convenient for all the major sights in Umbria and we have no hesitation in recommending this villa as an ideal holiday location. We have already arranged a return trip!
