Apartment THE VASSAL (sleeps 5) - is part of Country Resort “Le Torri di Bagnara-Medieval Historical Residences & Holiday farm Estate” . It is situated inside an 12th century stone Tower standing on the top of a hill dominating the northern Tiber Valley, in the heart of Umbria, only a few km north of Perugia. It is in the centre of a 1.300 acres superb holiday farm estate, with medieval Castles, small lakes, animal growings. Le Torri di Bagnara was nominated among the top 10 villas in Umbria by Condé Nast Architectural Digest, in July 2001, that dedicated an article with photos to it.
The VASSAL is a three-roomed apartment (69 sqm) on a stilted ground floor. It features one double bedroom + one bedroom with a small double bed and a single bed, a living room with large fireplace, large bathroom with window, and a large full kitchen. It feature independent heating system, satellite TV, bed and household linen, pool towels, a GSM mobile telephone and parking space in the car port. It is full of light and has a wonderful view over the surrounding woods. One bedroom can be double or twin bedroom; the second bedroom has a small double bed + a single bed, were 3 people can comfortably sleep. It is decorated in Umbrian style and has a rustic feel from the old stone walls, stone arches that separate the rooms, and original terracotta floors. All rooms have exposed wood beams; original fireplace is very large. The bathroom has a tub and a hand shower. Furnishings are 19th century antiques. An additional single bedroom and bathroom adjacent to “La Dama” apartment can be made available for a group of 6 people
Restaurant & bar service, laundry & ironing service, shopping service, local cooker, additional cleanings are available to Guests. The Restaurant offers a delicious Umbrian Cookery, very genuine, thanks to the exclusive use of the Typical Products of our farms (Dop extra virgin olive oil, Acacia & Flowermix honey, vegetables, eggs, “Chianina “cattle meat - the one of the T-bone steak , wild boar meat, chicken meat, the Doc red & white Wines from our Tuscan farm ) and of our area. Moreover, Pasta, Cakes & Bread are home made by our Cooker. Special Menu are available: Vegetarian, Vegan, egg free, glutin free, milk products free…..; taste our Medieval menu !
The property offers all the modern comforts for a wonderful holiday: restaurant & bar service, reading rooms, panoramic swimming pool (120 sqm - sea salt water), panoramic terraces, flowered gardens with orchards, botanic gardens, private parking areas, bicycles and laundry room. The Umbria region

UMBRIA, THE GREEN HEART OF ITALY Sometimes referred to as ‘the green heart of Italy’, Umbria is a small, hilly and fairly untouched region between Tuscany and Marche. The landscape is similar to that of Tuscany and combines austere Medieval architecture and stone farmhouses with gently rolling hills and rivers.
Lake Trasimeno is contained within the Trasimeno Regional Park, and serves as a seasonal home to many species of migrating birds, while the River Nera Regional Park contains the Marmore Waterfalls, the highest falls in Italy. There are a dozen or so hill towns, each resolutely individual and crammed with artistic and architectural treasures to rival bigger and more famous cities.
The most famous are Perugia, Assisi (with the extraordinary frescoes by Giotto in the Basilica of San Francesco), Orvieto, where the Duomo is one of the greatest Gothic buildings in the country, Todi, Gubbio (considered the most perfect medieval centre in Italy), and Spoleto.
LOCAL WEATHER Umbria is a mountainous region with a Mediterranean climate; hot dry summers and cold winters. In recent years winters have been drier and summers have been slightly warmer with the holiday and vacation season starting in April and May. Umbria is a landlocked region with many lakes and rivers.
The Apennine mountain range acts as a barrier from the harsh weather of the Adriatic Sea and colder air form the northeast. The summer provides average daily temperatures of 73 degrees Fahrenheit.
The dry climate is perfect for vacationers who want to enjoy villas with pools and other outdoor activities.Umbria has a cold dry winter with the average temperature around 45 degrees. The cool winters provide a beautiful and romantic setting for the winter holidays.

"Le Torri di Bagnara" looks over a wide part of the Tiber Northern Valley, 18 km north of Perugia, at 300 m over the sea level. The Tiber Northern Valley is also called “Museum Valley” because of its beauty, art and culture. It is a fertile plain, entirely crossed by the river that flows for about 50 km from Perugia to Città di Castello, in the northern part of Umbria.
The landscape of the valley is surrounded by green mountains and hills dotted with castles, towers and medieval villages.

Car: Highway E45 (Orte-Ravenna) to Resina exit, km 87. Follow on state road S.S. Tiberina (going North) to km 89.7. Turn left in the direction of “Pieve San Quirico-Bagnara”.

TV, 17th & 19th century antiques furnishings, terracotta floors, working fireplace; each apartment has full kitchen with dishwasher, hair-drier, towels, bed and household linen, pool towels, an independent heating system, and GSM mobile telephone; all beds have bed base with beech wood laminated slats. The owner has also provided cutlery, crockery, glassware, cooking utensil.
You may find an old stone arche and a large stone fireplace.

Children's' playground, inner Restaurant that offers a delicious & genuine Umbrian cuisine thanks to the exclusive use of procucts of our farms ("Chianina" veal meat, extra virgin olive oil, vegetables, honey, eggs, chicken meat, DOC wines from our Tuscan Farm) and the Typical Products of our area. There are guided visits around the farm and explanations of the working of this fascinating estate. There are tours (with an interpreter, if needed) to the art centres of Umbria's cities. There are Mountain Bikes, massages, cooking classes, floral arrangement classes, tasting and purchase of the Farm’s products . Ask for a programme of all the major events taking place in the region. There is a car and minibus with driver for hire, by request.
The Resort can also arrange a local cook or a Chef, limousine for hire, helicopter for hire.
Nearby are towns with supermarkets, banks, bookshops, many other shops, a riding school, golf and tennis course, football field, and swimming baths.

The Property is non smoking (this is due to the Italian Law). The large panoramic Swimming Pool (120 sqm) that features seas salt water (= no chlorine), is available form half May to half October and is shared with the Abbey Relais Guests (15 at least). The large Tower panoramic Garden (1.000 sqm) with fully equipped barbecue area is shared only with the Tower apartments Guests. Guests have the whole 1.500 acres Estate at their disposal, for walking, biking, bird & animal watching, berry picking.

MEDIEVAL TOWER APARTMENT "THE VASSAL" : Lease: one or more weeks, from Saturday to Saturday. No pets accepted.
The single room can only be rent in addition to one of the apartments.
The prices include: water, light and gas for cooking consumption; firewood; towels, bed and household linen, towels for the swimming pool, weekly replacement of linen; use of reading room, private swimming pool (available from half May to half October) and covered car port; warm shower in the swimming pool, pool umbrellas, deck-chairs, small-tables, beach-umbrella in the swimming-pool and in the gardens.
Additional costs: heating on consumption, extra cleaning (€ 15/h) ; breakfast (in the Abbey) Euros 10; lunch & dinner (in the Abbey) € 24/30 per person; Crib (till the age of 4) € 20/week.
Terms of payment: confirmation deposit at the reservation, equal to the 30% of the total amount (excluded possible additional costs). Full payment at the arrival by: cash, and Credit Card (International: Visa, Mastercard. National: Carta SI, Bancomat). Cheques are not accepted.
Caution money: € 250
No refunds for partial stays.
The apartments will be available from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the day of arrival (in case of different arrival hours, please inform us) and must be left at 10 a.m. on the departure day.

Bill, Shirley & Taylor C: WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR BEING SUCH A GOOD HOST. What a surprise this has been. The facility, location and staff were outstanding. The facilitiy's 11th-12th century buildings renovations leave you with a sense of living in past history with the comforts of the 21st century. The craftsmanship makes it appear as you've stepped back in time. As you can readily see the materials used will carry it forward more centuries. The pool area is very eye pleasing and functional. The view nad grounds around the pool sometimes makes me wonder if this was not the reason we selected yor residence. No, of course it sure helped. With the residence just five minutes from e-45 set high on the mountian makes it perfect to visit and tour umbria. Its very central. We visited rome, only two hours away, with a guide furnished by the residence from the umbria guide association. He was everything we could ask for. Thank you for your effort in this request. The staff treated us as if we were the masters of the house. Not only were they very knowledgeable, courteous and industrious but very friendly. The housekeeping staff seemed never to stop working. We were very impressed with how clean everythig was. Yor outside staff were just great and extremly helpful. We don't usually give a praise report but, you really deserve one. Thanks for a great week.
