The Western Australia / Perth Metro Area
For those who know the Mediterranean, Perth's climate is not unlike the weather there, long dry summers and mild, rainy winters. Perth is the capital of Western Australia, Australia's largest state but least populated state. Perth is modern and fairly new city, very few skyscrapers and bordered by the Indain Ocean, the Darling ranges and the Swan and Canning Rivers. A cosmopolitan city which offers a wide range of cuisine, especially the most wonderful seafood, numerous nightspots, parks, pristine beaches and plenty of water ways for water and other outside activities. Perth is 3 hours drive from the well known Margaret River wineries and beaches, 30 mins from the Swan Valley wineries and other tourist attractions.
Perth / Kinross area
Kinross, Western Australia Kinross is a small suburb in the city of Joondalup filled with young families and popular with overseas migrants. The gentle, community feel and proximity to local beaches make it a great place to raise a family. As a result, a healthy mix of Asian, British, South African and European families occupy the suburb alongside the local population. Being close to the coast also means good sea breezes to cool down hot summer evenings. Kinross is a green suburb, with parks aplenty. Spaced out within the suburb are Callender Park, McNaughton Park, Stonehaven Park, Falklands Park and Roxburgh Park.
If you have not already guessed, the Scottish influence in Kinross is not limited to its name but extends throughout the suburb with road names mainly derived from Scottish place names, for example Glencoe Loop, Edinburgh Avenue, Selkirk Drive, Falkirk Court, you get the gist of it.
Kinross has a Primary and Middle School and local shops. Kinross Primary School was opened in 1995, and Kinross College was opened in 2002. Kinross is bordered by Joondalup, Currambine, Burns and Clarkson. It also has its own Football (Soccer) Club which plays its home matches at the McNaughton Park ground.
Kinross currently has one suburban shopping centre, located along Kinross Drive, with a new shopping centre on the corner of Connolly and Selkirk Drives.
Kinross ranges from a 40 min drive to Perth, to a 5 min walk to Currambine Train station with direct trains to Perth.
