Welcome to The Old Smiddy Cottage (sleeps 6 +2 zed beds for children). Our traditional stone built Scottish country cottage is full of charm and character. It is set in beautiful open countryside surrounded by fields and woods close to the River Tay and 10 NE of Perth.
Enjoy a quality 'home from home' holiday and experience the unique character and relaxing atmosphere of the Old Smiddy Cottage.
We are flexible to your needs and offer self-catering or B&B for holiday makers, family groups and for fishing, golfing and shooting parties.
The original blacksmith's shop is now our large comfortable lounge with old beams where you can relax in front of the open inglenook log fire or dine by candlelight at the antique oak table. We have left our books and games for your enjoyment.
There is also a cosy room with log burner where you can read a book, watch TV, discuss the days events, plan for tomorrow - or just relax.
The large fully equipped country kitchen with AGA is the cosy hub of the cottage. Enjoy fresh eggs from our hens at the large kitchen table. The weekly tariff includes a £35 oil fuel cost for the AGA ensuring that you can always find a nice warm and cosy kitchen.
There is a large fenced garden, patio and BBQ. Organic veg may be availlble in season. Well behaved pets are welcome.

The Old Smiddy Cottage is located in beautiful open countryside surrounded by fields and woods 10 miles from Perth and 6 miles from Blairgowrie and 3 miles from the village of Stanley.
There are lovely walks nearby through woodland and along the River Tay.
Wild life abounds. We have 20 species of birds in the garden and more in local woods and wet lands. We often see deer, red squirrels and buzzards.
Stanley village 3 miles away has a post office, Spar shop, chemist and a super butcher selling locally reared meat. The village is home to Historic Scotland's Stanley Mill which is worth a visit. Nearby is Active Kids – a play area for children and Stewart Tower Farm which sells prize winning homemade ice cream and tasty meals.
Fishing on the Tay is a must for any fisherman! The Old Smiddy Cottage is near Ballathie and Taymount beats. Fishing permits can be bought locally.
There are golf courses nearby including Glen Eagles, Rosemount and Alyth.
Perth City has many attractions including excellent shopping facilities, good restaurants, art galleries, and the museum.
The Old Smiddy Cottage is ideally located for sight-seeing trips. The local road network is excellent allowing easy day trips to many of Scotland's famous Tourist attractions.
Enjoy visits to Edinburgh, St Andrews , Dundee, Aberdeen, Braemar and Balmoral, Inverness, Aviemore and Cairngorm National Park, Stirling, and Loch Lomond National Park. Some visitors do the round trip to Loch Ness, Fort William and Glen Coe.
The nearby highland landscapes are beautiful with lochs and Glens. Visit Dunkeld with majestic cathedral, Pitlochry with famous fish ladder, theatre and distillery or the highland town of Aberfeldy.
