The Tayside/Perthshire region

This region has a contrasting landscape of lochs, mountains, forests and coastline and it's therefore no coincidence that it's one of the most popular holiday destinations in Scotland. Its popularity is easy to understand when you consider the mouth watering attractions within its boundaries; which include the beautiful Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park in the west and the wonderful forests, mountains and rivers which are characteristic of Tayside and Perthshire to the east. The city of Stirling can also be found in this area, with its rich historical significance in Scottish history and connections to William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. The beautiful and unique coastlines here, both on the west coast and east coast, are ideal holiday destinations. Stretching in the west from Oban in the north down to Strathclyde and the Ayr coast, and in the east the coast extends from Dundee and Angus south the along the Fife coast to Edinburgh.

Perth, Scotland

This area is arguably best well known for Scone Palace. Once the site of coronation for generations of Scottish monarchs and the location for medieval parliaments this is a building utterly immersed in the country's turbulent history and well worth a visit. Another must see is the much-loved city of Perth, located just two miles away. The city has a vibrant cultural and arts sector which includes a modern concert venue, an acclaimed Victorian Theatre and Perth Museum and Art Gallery. It is also a city rich in open spaces and delightful riverside walks along the mighty River Tay. The latter is Scotland's longest river and enjoys an international reputation for the quality of its salmon fishing. Golfers will be in their element in this region as it home to two of the most famous golf courses in the western world- Gleneagles and St Andrews. For a change of scene why not spend an enjoyable day at the popular Perth Racecourse? If one should ever tire of this lovely area there are good road links to the majestic Grampian Mountains in the north or north-east to the glorious Angus region. Also within easy reach are the holiday ‘hotspots' of coastal Fife.
