The Western Australia / Perth Metro Area
For those who know the Mediterranean, Perth's climate is not unlike the weather there, long dry summers and mild, rainy winters. Perth is 3 hours drive from the well known Margaret River wineries and beaches, 30 mins from the Swan Valley wineries and other tourist attractions.
Perth, Perth Metro Area / Maylands area
Perth is the capital of Western Australia, Australia's largest state but least populated state. Head north-east out of Perth’s CBD through Highgate and Mount Lawley and within five minutes or so you’ll be able to turn off into a terrific little suburb called Maylands which, on a map, looks like a tooth carved out of the meandering Swan River, which provides three of Maylands’ boundaries.
Old homes here are being demolished or revamped as the suburb continues to develop in line with its potential - with its high, commanding position so close to the city which offers such great views over the river and across to Belmont Park racecourse and the Burswood Casino complex. In fact, Maylands is so flash these days it even has its own yacht club - a friendly hideaway at the corner of Fourth Avenue and East Street. Club members sail a variety of classes, from single-handed Laser and Moth to two-handed Heron and Pacer. Sailing takes place on Sundays from October through to April and visitors can spend a pleasant afternoon watching the craft flitting about the river.
Perth is modern and fairly new city, very few skyscrapers and bordered by the Indian Ocean, the Darling ranges and the Swan and Canning Rivers. A cosmopolitan city which offers a wide range of cuisine, especially the most wonderful seafood, numerous nightspots, parks, pristine beaches and plenty of water ways for water and other outside activities.
Attractions in the area include: * Kings Park & Gardens * Fraser Ave * The Swan Bells * Barrack Square * The Old Mill * Mill Point Road
How to get there
Just a 6 minute drive to the CBD. Great access to the Graham Farmer & Mitchell Freeways.
