The West Country / Cornwall region

Cornwall has everything to offer people from all walks of life. Dramatic coastline in the north, sheltered bays in the south, ancient moorland and river estuaries.

There are over 300 beaches in Cornwall and you are never more than 16 miles from the sea. Surfing, scuba diving, sailing are just some of the water related activities available around the county.

The north coast is where you'll find large expanses of golden sand and drama of Atlantic waves, while on the south you will find the secluded coves and sheltered bays. Don't be misled however, Cornwall doesn't only offer visitors a chance to visit the seaside, it also boasts 12 separate Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These areas include the Camel Estuary, Bodmin Moor, the Lizard Peninsula and the Helford River.

Perranporth area

Perranporth is a family resort located on the north coast of Cornwall, with 3 1/2 miles of golden sands, attracting surfers, sunbathers and walkers who enjoy the stunning coastal footpaths where much evidence can be found of Perranporth's tin mining history.

The beach has been made more famous in recent years with the Seaside Rescue programme following the local RNLI lifeguards. Visitors can enjoy the excitement of the Atlantic surf, safe in the knowledge that the lifeguards are on duty from Easter until October. Surf schools and surf hire are readily available in the resort.

The village has a variety of gift shops (some will close or have reduced opening hours during winter months), food stores, a post office, bank, surf shops and a selection of pubs and restaurants. The "Waterinhg Hole" (famous for being the only bar on the beach) is always popular and "Seiners" located on the beach front, has recently been acquired by Masterchef host, John Torode and his business partner, Rolf Munding.

An 18 hole links golf course overlooks Perranporth and the beach. At the opposite end of the village, on the road to St Agnes, is the Perranporth Airfield from where operates a sky diving centre and a gliding club. You can enjoy spectacular views of Cornwall on a scenic flight from here. Other activities to be enjoyed are bowling, horse riding, tennis, hang gliding and fishing. There is also a boating lake where you can have a peaceful rest, and enjoy the colourful gardens.

The seaside resort of Newquay is about 8 miles north of Perranporth, and the cathedral town of Truro is approximately 8 miles inland. The area is well served by a road network, making it easy to travel to all parts of Cornwall by car or coach. Coach trips around the Duchy are available, and can be booked at the Perranporth Information Centre located in the middle of town.

The 4th bedroom is downstairs and has a "stacker" bed - full size single or 2 low-level singles. This room has direct access to the back garden and contains the separate downstairs W.C.

Downstairs is the kitchen-conservatory, breakfast lounge - with Rayburn, and the open plan Lounge & dining rooms. In the lounge there is a working log fire. The lounge and dining rooms face north so combine this with the thick 18th century walls and you'll find that these will remain cool even on the hottest of summer days.

The rear garden is fairly enclosed and mostly laid to lawn with a herb garden. It's a great place for a kick around with the kids or laid back barbecue.

The front garden has great views over the bay and has a wildlife pond. Children must be supervised at all times in the front garden.
