For the young and young at heart there's Holywell Bay Fun Park, Flambards (Helston) and Cornwall's Crealy Great Adventure Park (nr Wadebridge).
For some Cornish wildlife there's the Cornish Seal Sanctury (Helston), The National Lobster Hatchery (Padstow), Newquay Zoo and Blue Reef Aquarium (Newquay).
Perranporth is ideally located on the North Coast of Cornwall between St Ives and Newquay, steeped in history with a wealth of activities for all the family it is also in close proximity to many of the attractions Cornwall has to offer.
Three miles of golden sandy beach, a tidal rock pool on Chapel Rock for paddling and some great waves for body boarders and surfers alike, Perranporth Beach is a popular family destination. There's plenty of surf schools to choose from if you want to learn to catch a wave or improve your style. A Slice of History
St Piran, the Patron Saint of Cornwall is said to have landed at Perranporth after being cast to sea tied to a mill stone. St Piran discovered tin when a black stone surrounding his fireplace got so hot that the tin leaked out of the stone. This is where the Cornish flag originates from, a white tin cross on a black background. Every year St Piran's day (5th March) is celebrated in Perranporth, with parades and plays on the dunes.
Donald Healey was born in Perranporth in 1898 and opened his first garage in Perranporth in 1919. In May 2013 the Healey Drivers club held their international meeting at Perranporth, with over 70 Austin Healeys parked at the beach front, some from as far away as Australia to commemorate the 25th anniversary since Donald Healey passed away.
Winston Graham, author of the Poldark series, moved to Perranporth in his teenage years. Winston wrote his novels at "Legh Carrygy" Cornish for Flat Rocks, a hillside bungalow that used to sit above Perranporth beach. A memorial bench can now be found where the bungalow used to be and there is a Winston Graham memorial exhibition at the Perranzabuloe Folk Museum in Perranporth.
