The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region
The Roussillon area of France is the most southern and the sunniest part of France that has on average 300 days of sunshine: hot summers and mild winters. It is a beautiful region, marked by the variety and contrast of its landscape : to the south the beaches give way to rocky bays and traditional fishing harbours around Collioure, Port Vendres and Spain beyond; To the west, the vineyards and fruit tree farms of the Tech and Têt Valleys lead up to the massif du Canigou the peak of which (at about 2785m high) is snow capped most of the year and visible from all along the coast. The region is proud of its clear coastal lagoons, which provide a haven for all kinds of wildlife, and are often tinged pink by flocks of flamingos. Almost 40 beaches and ports in Languedoc-Roussillon fly the blue flag, the European award for clean bathing water. Perpignan is about 6 miles inland and accessible by car, bus or taxi. This colourful and bustling city is full of restaurants, cafes, shops, museums, galleries, steeped in history and atmosphere. The traditional Catalan colours of yellow and orange now associated with the Perpignan USAP rugby team are high in evidence. Barcelona which is about 130miles south along the A9 is an exciting and vibrant Spanish city. Other notable attractions are at Carcassonne , Collioure , Montpellier, Andorra, Figueres etc
Perpignan / Canet Plage area
Canet Plage town and port (only 15 mins level walk or 5 mins by car or bus) has miles of golden sand with water sports, restaurants, bars tourist shops, tourist information, casino and mini golf. In summer evenings the sea front has market stalls for souvenirs and trinkets.
Supermarket, MacDonald’s, Pizza bar, restaurant, nightclubs all within easy walking distance of the apartment.
The resort's marina can be discovered on foot along the quays. Walking enthusiasts can also discover the beauty, flora and fauna of Canet Lagoon, covering more than 3.7 sq. miles. Its footpath over 2.5 miles long will delight nature lovers. For a more relaxing day, why not spend a day at the local thalassotherapy centre, or the Aquarium.
How to get there
FLY The nearest airport is at Perpignan about 10mins taxi ride from our apartment. Ryanair do daily flights from Stansted. Flybe also do flights to Perpignan from Southampton and BMIbaby from Manchester.
It is also possible to fly with Ryanair into Carcassonne, which is about 1 hr drive from the apartment, depart Dublin, Liverpool, East Midlands and Stansted.
You can also fly with Ryanair to Girona Northern Spain, which is about 1hr south of our apartment, depart Bournmouth, Bristol, Blackpool, Durham, Dublin, Doncaster, Luton, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow and Stansted .
Cheap flights can also be obtained from Easy Jet who fly from Luton or Stansted into Barcelona. .
ROAD It is possible to drive to our apartment by road it takes between 10-12 hours from Calais depending on the route and number of stops on the way. Various routes can be found on the Michelin website www.viamichelin.com. You There is secure parking within the complex.
TRAIN You can also travel by train from U.K. to Paris by Eurostar and Paris to Perpignan by TGV.

Further details indoors: The accommodation comprises a double bedroom, shower room, separate wc, well equipped kitchenette with washing machine, sitting room with double and single bed settees, indoor dining area ,TV/DVD and a south facing balcony witn table and chairs for sunbathing or eating al fresco.
Further details outdoors: On-site amenities include bars, restaurant, snack bar, children’s games room, table tennis and a small shop for bread and provisions. Malibu Village has its own superb pool areas and the accommodation is situated amongst beautiful gardens. You can access the 3 swimming pools with sun beds, gym facilities, squash and tennis courts for a charge payable to Malibu. Immediately adjacent to the complex is an all year round 50metre outdoor heated pool and also close by is the Europa Tennis Academy for the more serious players. During the peak periods there is a mixture of evening entertainment together with organized sporting activities for adults and children during the day. Approx 15 min walk to the sea and town centre, Excursions organized at the complex include the Pyrenees Mountains, Carcassonne and the Spanish town of Figueres.
