Venasque is unique and protected. This beautiful village 'One of the most beautiful villages in France' coveted award is perched high on a rock and is protected by ancient ramparts. Venasque would appeal to guests who love history and 'old stone'. A famous church and baptistery and fascinating history attracts discerning visitors from around the world. As does the pure beauty of the surroundings. Guests have described the village and house as 'magical'. Venasque is surrounded by forests and with no through traffic is a walkers paradise. Views are stunning from all aspects, Luberon mountains to the right, Mont Ventoux to the front. Rocky gorges to the rear and the Dentelle Mountains to the left. Cherry orchards and vineyards as far as the eye can see. Down in the valley, bustling market towns like Carpentras and Pernes Les Fontaines. Polution free, blue skiies , starry nights, and warm climate! and sun pretty much all year round. Cold and crisp in winter, and skiing possible on Mont Ventoux. For romantic guests roman and more ancient vestiges and ruins to discover. The fauna and flora is in abundance, so it is a nature lovers paradise. This house is ideally located to visit ALL the recognised main attractions of Provence. However, be warned you do need a car, bike or motorcycle for this holiday because it is an explorers dream.

This area is perfect for people or families who like to design their own holidays. There is nothing unavailable. You name it, it is here. Obvious attractions like wine tasting, wonderful food and realistic prices. If you like swimming, there are rivers and lakes. Supervised and wonderful swiming pools in Pernes Les Fontains and Carpentras. Rock climbing clubs. Tennis in the village. Golf courses and horse riding nearby. Canoeing. Biking-if your up to it, cycle Mont Ventoux, the Tours de France route. Markets of every type -antiques, food clothes and on every day. Visit Gordes, Senanque, Les Baux de Provence, Avignon, Chateau Neuf du Papes, Gigondas, Beaume de Venise. Orange, Nimes, Arles amphi theatres. Roman ruins in Vaison La Romain. Beautiful villages in Lacoste, Menerbe in the Luberon. Find an antique bargain in Isle Sur la Sorgue. Visit Sault and the Lavendar capital region. Days out to the fabulous Gorges of the Verdon (Frances answer to the Grand Canyon) with a huge watersports lake and the Ardeche gorges and grottos. Swim in the river or canoe under the Pont du Gard. Closer to home an adverture park Zip chords and abseiling through the woods then swim in the man made lake or eat in the restaurant in Mormoiron. Just 15 minutes from the house. Then drive to the top of Mont Ventoux a take in the views. Village festivals all year round. Catch the lovely Cherry Festival in Venasque end of May. Venasque is a capital for a cherries.
How to get there
It couldn't be easier to get to the house. It is served by two airports one in Marseille and one in Avignon. Marseille provence airport has a low cost terminat MP2 with both Easyjet and Ryanair carriers. Nice is also a major international airport, 2.45 hrs. Marseille Provence airport 1.5 hours. Avignon 20 minutes. TGV trains also in Marseille/Aix and Avignon. You can pick up rental cars from all locations. The motorway/autoroute is just 20-30 minutes away.

Further details indoors: Fully equipped to a high standard, spacious spread over 3 levels. Soft furnishings and fabrics which compliment the feel and history of the house. This is a friendly house which lends itself to gatherings of friends and family. A very large dining/family room with en-suite kitchen is the hub of the house, where everyone meets and shares good food and good wine of the region. Lots of board games and books for rainy days. Ideal for groups of friends of up to 6 (more with permission) and for couples or individuals who want to relax. An open fire so It is cosy in winter. Thick walls so it is cool in the summer.

Roof terrace with 360 views. The highest terrace in the village and not overlooked. Not huge, but accommodates 4 sunloungers and occasional fold away chairs. Leading to..... Fabulous large sunny grenier loft room with twin bedroom facilities en-suite washroom and toilet. Romantic heavy curtains separate the sleeping area from the upstairs lounge area. Television, two settees, one being a double sofa bed for additional guests. Lovely light contemporary furnishings. Small balcony/door overlooking the ancient ramparts. SECOND FLOOR Lovely feature spiral staircase leading down to the large living area. Dining table capable of seating up to 12, (with permission from owner) but is set for 6. Very cosy for just two. 4 Fireside chairs. Open fire. Music and CDs. Lots of board games and books. Huge sideboard housing serving dishes and linen. Original pretty Provencal paintings from visiting artists are displayed in this room. Kitchen is fully equipped to a very high standard with modern range style oven both gas and electricity in case of power cuts and modern white goods. All you need to buy are the ingredients to cook some of the lovely local dishes. GROUND LEVEL Two double bedrooms: One themed provencal and is a pretty beamed room. With a shuttered window overlooking the quiet lane-no through traffic-. Bedroom two has a romantic fourposter bed drapped in provencal linen, with its own door to the outside quiet pretty lane. Walls are typically provencal white. Bathroom with shower attachment and heated towel rail, and bidet. Decorated blue and white. There are two toilets, one upstairs and one downstairs. There are sprial staircases with wrought iron banisters and are quite safe for the mobile elderly person. Children will need supervision around the spriral stairwells. A cot can be provided.
Further details outdoors: There is a large boulodrome area to practise Petanque, or boules. A children's play ground just behind the ramparts. Large communal free carpark. The village is small but has a post office, boulangerie, small shop and various arts and craft shops. A tourist office, library. Tennis club. 3 lovely restaurants ranging from the expensive to inexpensive. St Didier small village town is a car drive of 5 minutes through fabulous countryside, here you have more choice. Large supermarkets at Pernes les Fontaines and Carpentras. Wine cellars on the door step! 2 minutes and you can be walking in forests. The house is in a small road with typical provencal houses and no through traffic.

Rentals are normally from Sunday to Saturday allowing ample time to do emergency repairs or cleaning. However guests are welcome to arrive at the house on Saturday afternoon, not before 4 pm. THERE IS NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR THE SATURDAY NIGHT! on the understanding that they may find the house in a less than perfect condition. See booking conditions. Guests are expected to leave the house as they find it. It is not a catered holiday. Cleaning materials are provided. Where the housekeeper considers that the house must be cleaned following guests departure a fee of 10€ per hour is deducted from the deposit. Minimum charge 20€ for 2 hours. Normally, guests respect the need for arriving guests to find the house in a clean and tidy state, and it is rare to deduct from the deposit. A laundry service is charged a 15€ per person per change of laundry. There is a good supply of towels. Excessive fuel consumption will be charged at .20 euros per unit. Normal useage does not usually exceed the level. A metre reading is taken at the start and finish of each stay.

Currencies accepted: euros or pounds sterling.
A 200 GBPs returnable security deposit is required.
At booking stage: 50% of returnable security deposit (£100) and 25% of the rental is due at booking stage. See payment methods on booking contract. Remaining 50% of your security deposit must be sent by post on a separate cheque in your own currency. This will be held and not banked and returned to you unless there are serious breakages.
8 WEEKS BEFORE THE START OF YOUR HOLIDAY The balance of the rental 75% outstanding.
Rental prices are for up to 6 guests. Extra guests will be charged at 5GBPs per person per night. Pets, where accepted will be charged at 5GBPs per night.

This is a self catering holiday. Guests are expected to leave the house in the condition they find it.
A deduction will be made from the security deposit if the femme de menage feels a clean is necessary €10 per hour minimum € 20 (conditions will be sent)

HOWEVER, if you want a cleaner, this service is serviced-out to a local cleaning company and is extra and paid in advance. £50 or €70
Laundry charge of €15 per person per change of laundry is paid direcly to the femme de menage. This is separate to the cleaning charges.
