Casa Ábalos is a typical andalusian country house located in Marchamona, a lovely quiet hamlet near Periana, surrounded by mountains and a valley. It is a 200 years old stone-built house which has been fully restored and equipped, keeping its original layout and architectural features. The hamlet is situated in a Protected Area, it is an ideal place for relaxing, reading, trekking and mountain climbing, and it is only 20 kilometres away from the coast and its amenities. Casa Ábalos is about an hour from the most beautiful and important Andalusian cities: Granada, Málaga, Ronda or Antequera.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
Marchamona is a lovely hamlet located in a Protected Area at an altitude of 900 metres north of Periana, between the Enmedio Mountains and the Nature Reserve of Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Mountains. It is a very quiet spot, set in the countryside surrounded by olive and almond trees trees, flowered in February! Nature lovers can enjoy watching the indigeous flora and fauna, the diversity of birds is just amazing. Dogs are welcome, it is fantastic place to enjoy a walk with your pet running freely in the countryside. The sky at night is spectacular canopy of stars, as there are no lights around to spoil it. There are many beautiful walks around and the climate helps to enjoy it as it is mild most of the time, winter is short and summer is not really hot. The little villages around keep an incredible mozarab heritage, in fact there is a route know as "Ruta del Mudejar" that goes along the mountain villages that keep their old "minarets". The area has plenty of beautiful monumental towns like Alhama de Granada, Antequera or Ronda.
Periana area
Periana has many little shops and restaurants where you can go into a real andalusian atmosphere. Some of them have very good local specialities, like Restaurant Verdugo, El Caserío de Guaro or Casa Esparraguito, where you can enjoy some typical "tapas" in the shade of a climbing grapevine. You will be able to enjoy mozarabic meals like " honey aubergine" (berenjenas con miel), taste their famous peaches and the marvellous olive oil made of the local olives The andalusian outdoors living invites you to join them, relax yourself and enjoy the warm climate.
How to get there
Fly into Málaga Airport, take the Autovia to Casabermeja, then to Velez Málaga and exit when you see Periana singpost.. You will have to get to Periana where we welcome you to show you the way to the hamlet. You will need to hire a car in the Airport.
