Home description

The house is situated in the centre of Periana where you are a few minutes walk from many bars, small shops, banks and food stores. Our favourite restaurant is Café Verdugo 5 minutes walk through the village, the food caters for most tastes - look out for the green canopies! Further on the same side is Raphaels bar with red chairs outside, he does a wonderful spit roast lamb/pig on most days but Sunday lunchtime always. Other bars sell Tapas and there is a newly opened Tapas Bar just down from Cafe Verdugo.

It is an amazingly characterful house, with a wealth of beamed ceilings and alcoves in the stone walls. The kitchen is a step down from the living room with a small seating area. Both this and the living room have doorways out to a courtyard terrace where there is outdoor dining furniture.

The staircase curves up to a shower room and the two bedrooms. A spiral staircase then leads up to the roof top terrace which has views of Lake Vinuela in the distance and is a wonderful place to enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner in the evening or for sunbathing during the day. There is dining furniture and sun chairs provided.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

Torre del Mar is about 30 minutes drive away. This is a typical Spanish Beach resort with a safe beach and beachside promenade with numerous ice-cream parlours, cafes and some wonderful seafood restaurants. The main shopping mall is called “El Ingenio”. It is a typical modern air conditioned shopping area, cafes, food hall, hypermarket and many fashionable shops. There is also a water park opposite Dunnes stores, great fun for all the family.

The famous and much visited village of Nerja is 30 minutes away from Periana, perched on the coast rocks. There are beautiful beaches and walks close by. It has 16 kilometres of powdery sand and sparkling clear water. All major water sports are available here, including water skiing, scuba diving and sailing.

Nerja’s most spectacular attraction is undoubtedly its fascinating caves, located just 3 kilometres from the centre. They include archaeological treasures such as paintings over 20,000 years old and other prehistoric remains. One of the enormous natural caverns has been transformed into a concert hall, where many performances are staged during the summer.

There are 2 excellent 18 hole golf courses nearby, Bavaria Golf, 20 mins by car (tel 0034 952 555 015) and Club Anoret 30 mins (tel 0034 952 404000).


Periana area

PERIANA is situated 58 kilometres from Malaga and 28 kilometres from the coast of Torre del Marr, at an altitude of 547 metres. It lies within the area of Axarquia on the scenic route of olive oil and mountains, and has a population of 3,500.

The village is famed for its peaches and olives, which you will see as you drive up to Periana and the surrounding fields of this area. During the summer a peach festival is held. Also there are several fiestas including flamenco music, which is pure Andalucian, do not be surprised if you come across impromptu singers in local bars: a very refreshing experience. During festivals all the cafes and bars spill over into the streets and the main street is closed to traffic and there are no early bedtimes on these days!!

Periana is a very Spanish village, friendly relaxed and safe, it pays little attention to the tourist trappings on the coast. It is a place to relax and chill out. If you come with no car then its ideal to fully recharge your batteries, if you do have a car you are ideally situated to tour inland to Granada, Seville, Cordoba and the real Spain.

This area is fantastic for walking and cycling holidays as well as being great for beach or lakeside relaxation. There is Golf within 30 mins, Horse Riding and Fishing at Lake Vinuela, where swimming is great too.
There is a communal outdoor pool in the centre of the village.


How to get there

You can fly into Malaga Airport.
This takes around 40 mins from airport.Several of the cheap airlines fly
into Malaga: Easyjet, Ryanair, Thomson and Monarch.
Its worth shopping around.
A taxi from Malaga Airport will cost approx 70 euros one way dependent on time of arrival.

You can also fly into Granada Airport, which is very relaxed compared to Malaga which can get very busy during summer months. Both Ryanair and Monarch use Granada.

This journey will take 1 hr 15 mins but is a pleasant and easy drive.

Changeover day is flexible

To secure your booking a 25% non-returnable deposit is required. The balance is payable 8 weeks before your arrival. In the case of bookings taking place less than 8 weeks before your holiday, payment in full will be due at time of booking.

A Security Deposit of £100 is payable 8 weeks before your arrival and will be returned to you within 7 days of your departure.
