The Mauritius North Coast/Grand Baie region

The apartment is situated in the well serviced village of Péreybère on the sheltered & unspoilt part of the island's North coast, which can be walked along for many miles. Péreybère boasts several exceptional and safe beaches with crystal clear waters.

Péreybère also has a great variety of excellent restaurants, amenities, supermarkets, shops & water activities. The main beach offers fantastic snorkelling, water skiing, speedboat tours, glass-bottom boats, parasailing, pedalos, sea kayaking and also restaurants and cafés. For those who prefer to be away from it all, Péreybère also has several deserted beautiful beaches and delightful little coves.

Péreybère retains a perfect balance between the tourist resort atmosphere of Grand-Baie (less than 5 minutes ride away) and the sleepy fishing villages of Cap Malheureux, Anse la Raie and Grand Gaube further up the coast (about 5 to 10 minutes ride away).

With its excellent transport links, Péreybère is also a convenient departure point for daily excursions to anywhere on the island, whether by boat, hired car, hired scooter, bus or taxi. Any part of the island can be reached in less than 2 hours drive.

-full day trip on the “Isla Mauricia”, the oldest active magnificent sailing boat, with lunch, snorkeling & musicians
-Captain Nemo’s undersea walk with a helmet for 30 min., great for non-divers & children over 7
-half day/full day deep sea fishing (marlin, tuna and other species)
-line fishing
-parasailing over beautiful lagoon
-scuba diving
-Blue Safari Submarine: discover the undersea world at a depth of 35 meters, great for anyone over the age of 2
-Nessee semi-submersible boat with snorkelling between fishes & reefs to discover the marine life

If you can tear yourself away from the spectacular beaches & lagoons, there are also many historical sites & interesting places to explore less than half an hour away. Examples include:

- 5 min. taxi/ bus ride to the resort town of Grand-Baie with its charming shopping arcades, its market, its restaurants on the water's edge & bars.
- 5 minute taxi/bus ride to the quaint fishing village of Cap Malheureux, where you can buy fresh fish from local fishermen
- 15 minutes taxi/bus ride to "Horse Riding Delights, where you can hire horses or bicycles to ride through the grounds of the former "Mont Choisy Sugar Estate".
- 15 minutes taxi/bus ride to the Aquarium where you will be able to see and touch a great array of tropical sealife in giant tanks & touch pools
- 15 minutes drive to The Verger de Labourdonnais, a beautiful colonial house surrounded by a 40 hectar sugar cane plantation & an orchard with all tropical fruit trees of Mauritius and nurseries with colourful & perfumed flowers
- 20 minutes taxi/bus ride to 'Le Jardin de Pamplemousses', a unique tropical botanical gardens with giant indigenous tortoises & small zoo.
- 20 minutes taxi/bus ride to "L'Aventure du Sucre", an old sugar mill converted into a interesting museum in a beautiful location retracing the history of Mauritius.
- 25 minutes away: the town of Goodlands, with its colourful market, its chocolate factory & its large Historic Marine model boat factory.
- 25 minutes away, in the town of Triolet, you will be able to visit the Maheswarnath Temple, which is the largest hindu temple in Mauritius.
- About 30 min. bus/taxi drive, you can reach the island's capital, Port-Louis, with its exotic markets, its China Town & pagodas, its temples, its modern Caudan shopping complex & its fascinating "Blue Penny Museum".

How to get there

Fly to Sir Seewoosagur International Airport in Mauritius and on request, we will organise for you to be picked up at the airport and taken to the apartment by our reliable English/French speaking tour guide and taxi driver. The taxi is air-conditioned. The chauffeur will be waiting for you with a sign indicating your names as you exit the terminal building. His price for the airport transfer is 1400 Rupees to be paid locally (about £26). You will also have the option of using him as an excellent driver/tour guide during your stay for entire day excursions to any part of the island for a similar price.

The living/dining room is very bright, comfortable and furnished to a high standard and the kitchen is open plan with all modcons (microwave, cooker, grill, fridge freezer, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans, cooking utensils and full sets of crockery and cutlery.
There are 2 air-conditioned bedrooms, one double bedroom with a double bed and one other bedroom with 3 wide single beds (one of which is a pullout bed). Ample bed linen is provided.
The bathroom is fully tiled with a good shower, toilet and sink. Plenty of towels provided.

Further details outdoors:
The apartment is in a small residential complex mostly owned by Mauritians as 2nd holiday homes, so it is quiet and you should have almost exclusive and private use of the pool & gardens most of the time. Deckchairs are available for you to relax by the pool.
Tennis courts are located within 1 minute walk from the apartment and can be booked locally for about 100 Rupees/hour (£2/hour, rackets & balls provided).

The nightly rate for the apartment ranges from £50/night to £60/night depending on the time of the year, then length of stay and occupancy. A deposit of 50% is required to hold a booking. Payments can be made by cheque, bank transfer or credit card using the PayPal online secure payment system. The balance, remaining 50% is to be paid 1 month prior to your holiday. You will receive a prompt email confirmation for all payments made. Discounts available for repeat guests, airline staff or stays exceeding 21 nights.

We were leafing through our Mauritius photos the other day and thought that we really should drop you a line with some feedback about our holiday.
We wanted to thank you for sharing your apartment with us. We had a stunning holiday, and one of the best things about it was the knowledge that every penny we spent went into Mauritian families and businesses, not to multinational hotels.
The apartment was very comfortable, and so convenient to the beautiful beaches in Pereybere – it was so nice to be picked up at the airport, greeted at the apartment and made to feel so welcome. Sheila cooked us a couple of delicious meals, and we enjoyed many of the local restaurants and bars. It was a very memorable holiday for all.
We hired a car. This gave us an opportunity to explore the island - which we very much enjoyed, particularly as we happened upon a fantastic restaurant in the hills.

We had a great Honeymoon in Mauritius staying in your apartment.
We thought that pereybere was an ideal resort to relax in, with enough
facilities for our needs but not too commercial.
The beaches were the highlight of our holiday as they were quiet and
beautiful. Mauritian people were very friendly. The apartment was always kept v clean and tidy,and the safe was handy.
We enjoyed cycling to cap malhereux and eating out at Wang Tai and Seafood
lovers.
