stayed lhere for a week and only wish it had been for longer. Casa Romantica has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. It was so nice to come back to at the end of the day site seeing and relax with a drink on the balcony overlooking the beautiful countryside. Pereta is a fairly tale little village and it feels like stepping back in time. We cannot wait to return. |

Let me start by saying Pereta is a lovely village and the locals are lovely but the apartment is another story The so called quaint approach to this apartment was not, it was not that nice. The door into the apartment was quite scruffy and it looked like the original one, this could have done with updating. When we got the key out of the safe we entered the building going down 2 steps into the lounge, there was a smell of some sort which was not very nice. First impressions were not good. The bathroom was the best room. The main bedroom was quite big and had plenty of wardrobe space and the bed was king size and comfortable, the window overlooked the valley although we could not open this because the nets were torn with holes in it so letting any bugs fly in, which is a pity it would have been nice to get some fresh air in the room. The lounge was very cramped with only one comfy 2 seater sofa. If there had have been 3 or 4 of us some of us would have had to use the hard dining chairs to sit on. The TV was a waist of time a small 12'' screen not that we wanted to use it. There was a dining table that could be extended but if this was done there would not be much room left in the lounge. The small kitchenette was just about adequate, although cheese on toast was difficult because the grill did not go red but just hot so it took an age to do this. The fridge looked like it had not been defrosted for quite some time it was thick with ice in the freezer bit. The views from the very narrow balcony was awesome but not that much room on it. The doors were all ill fitting so I suppose this is where all the bugs got in, every morning we had to sweep loads of wood lice up. Walking around the apartment without something on your feet was not done just in case you squashed a bug. We found all sorts of creepy crawleys in there. The second bedroom is only fit for 1 or 2 youngsters as this only had bunk beds in there. The price for this is a rip off and having to pay for cleaning on top of this is a downright insult. Would we go again to this apartment NO not a chance. And it's on the ground floor so if you have clunky people above it's noisy. 20 minutes to the nearest beach it says on the website, it's more like 35, it's about 30 minutes to the nearest big supermarket although there is a smaller one 10 minutes away in Scansano where there are some nice places to eat. This amongst other villages we visited is very nice. A couple of nice bars in the square where you can people watch and a small market once a week. Yes Italy is lovely and we enjoyed being there but the apartment spoilt it. Response: I must say that I am really shocked and very disappointed reading this review as this is the first time someone has complained however, I respect your comments and have taken some of them into consideration. To start off with we don't wish to update the alleyway down to the house which dates back to the 11th century, or the front door that has been there for a very long time. Most people that visit usually appreciate the history and character of the property. As to the size of the house… I advertise the house for couples or families with small children as the second bedroom is designed for young kids not adults. As to the odd creepy crawly… Pereta is perched on the hillside in the countryside so this is just part of nature. However, I am fitting new fly screens for 2012. The cleaning fee includes all bed linen, towels, beach towels and a lovely welcome basket with enough food and drink for breakfast and an evening meal!! I apologize about the fridge having ice in it and I have bought a new one for 2012. I am sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at Casa Romantica, obviously this style of holiday was not for you and it's very sad that you have found so many negative things to say. For your next holiday you may be better staying in a modern style apartment. |
Guestbook for Casa Romantica
'We loved the place so much that we are going back this summer for the third time and can't wait! It's a tribute to Debbie that she has thought of everything to make this place perfect…I promise you will not be disappointed!!' Gill and Archy
'We had the most fantastic romantic holiday sitting on the balcony with our wine looking out over the valley. Pereta is a charming magical place and the locals made you feel like part of the community, all you need is a small phrase book and a smile. Franco at the local pizza parlour was very friendly and made the best pizzas ever. So many places still to see, can’t wait to go back. Thanks for all the help and information which was very useful.'
