La Petite Vérablière
About the home
Set on the edge of an apple orchard amidst the rolling Normandie countryside, our old cider barn has been comfortably renovated and is well equipped for your holiday. The two bedrooms can easily hold up to 5 people and a baby and are situated on the upper floor of the cottage alongside the shower room and toilet. The ground floor consists of a fully functioning kitchen and dining area to seat six and a living room with a wood burning stove. We are in a rural area and apart from the odd tractor we do not get much traffic along the lanes - ideal for that quiet get-away!

The Normandy / Manche region

The La Manche area of Normandie is host to many wonderful tourist attractions. The cottage is situated just 25 minutes (16 miles) from safe, sandy beaches. Mussel and oyster beds abound along the west coast of the peninsula and the historic abbey of Mont St. Michel can be seen seemingly floating out in the bay. This side of the peninsula is renowned for its oyster and mussel beds and there are numerous restaurants to partake of the local fruits de mer!
The medieval town and tapestry of Bayeux can be found en route to Arromanches on the east coast and the Normandy WW2 landing beaches stretch for miles along that coast and you can visit interesting museums and exhibitions dedicated to the memory of the 2nd World War.
The Percy area
Percy is 2 miles away from the cottage and contains a good selection of shops including boulangeries, charcuteries, petrol stations, banks and a good supermarket. The nearby historic medieval town of Villedieu-les-Poeles is famed for its copper and pewter industry and only 6 miles away. It has several good restaurants, a Tuesday morning market and many interesting museums where you can see traditional Norman furniture and pewter and copperware pots being made.
Several rivers flow through this part of Normandie and you can walk/cycle/canoe or ride along the towpath of the river Vire - only a 20 minute drive from the cottage.
Normandie is also home to many horse studs (St. Lo being the nearest). There are lots of local riding schools in the area, Hambye and Gavray being two of the nearest but if you wish you can hack along the local beaches at Les Salines when the tide is out - lovely.
