Waterfront Apartment
About the home
Spacious and airy waterfront apartment, with shared terrace, affording magnificent views across Kotor bay. Perast is situated 12km west from Kotor and represents the best preserved baroque area in the Adriatic. Reputed as Montenegro's Jewel in the Crown this small town attracts artists, poets, boating and nature enthusiasts. It is also an idyllic location in which to spend a romantic break, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Several tavernas and restaurants are dotted along the waterfront affording visitors the luxury of a wide variety of cuisine. Venturing out of Perast and beyond to Skadar lake, the National Parks and the wild beauty of Zabljak you will experience everchanging and magnificent landscape. Beach lovers will, on their journeys, discover hidden coves offering peace and tranquility. The nearby old town of Kotor, with its cobbled lanes, has many historical landmarks and is home to a wide variety of boutiques and cafes. Musical concerts, art galleries and performing arts are some of the many attractions within the walls of this ancient town.

Please note that whilst there is a terrace, it is shared with 2 other apartments. I supply an outside table and chairs, however most guests prefer to eat whilst enjoying the views across the water from the french windows in the dining area and so the terrace is rarely used. It does not have direct views across the water, but in the heat of the summer provides a shady area to sit and read or relax.

The apartment is on the waterfront adjacent to a little harbour. During the summer months the small beach bar, which rents out sun-loungers, opens, This is a 1 minute walk from the apartment. Dotted along the waterside are little quays where you can also relax. April, May, June and September are beautiful months and August is generally the hottest time of year. October can provide sunny days, beautiful autumnal colours and cooler evenings. Steeped in History, there are many museums, churches and places of interest to visit in Perast itself. Beyond Perast one can explore the ancient walled towns of Kotor, Budva, Hertzeg Novi, the ancient capital Cetijne, the Durmitor mountains including the ski resorts of Kolasin and Zabjlak and Skadar Lake, one of Europe's largest which stretches down into Albania, is approx 90 mins drive away and is well worth a visit. To add a taste of variety, a drive across the border toeither Bosnia or Albania makes an interesting day trip. Yachts can be chartered from the now famous Porto Montenegro at Tivat or from the marina in Kotor.
The Perast area
In conjunction with the Italian authorities, Perast, which is a beautiful village and also a World Heritage site, has recently introduced an initiative to reduce carbon emissions. Either end of the village they have built a car/coach park to reduce the amount of local traffic. Residents of Perast are allowed to drive their vehicles into the village, but visitors can take advantage of the electric shuttle bus that runs regularly from one end of the village to the other. There are bicycles, electric cars and electric scooters, available for hire also. Perast has 1 village store where most essential items can be purchased. It stocks fresh bread, fruit, yogurts etc. There is also a Post Office, 2 hotels,a souvenir shop and several restaurants, bars and cafes. The locals are lively and friendly, wining and dining is cheap in comparison to most of Europe. Larger supermarkets can be found 'en route' to Kotor or in the neighbouring town of Risan.
There are some wonderful places to explore. It is a land of much beauty and diversity... well worth the venture.

We stayed in this appartment two times already and we can say that we love it very much! There lots of reasons why. First of all, it is located in one of the best buildings in Perast. There are car parking, beach and several wonderfull restaurants near it. The only restaurant I wouldn't recommend you is "Admiral" - service is not good, food is poor and the price is not reasonable. Perast is just 20 minutes from Tivat airport, and most of the way passes through the Kotor bay. Appartments can offer everything is needed for a week stay. Agents are very professional and helpful. Although last time we had to check out really early (6 in the morning) there were no problems. And one more thing... The view is amazing. To wake up in the morning and see the bay, the islands and the beatifull sky is a pure hapiness! |
