About the home

Our little stone haven was renovated four years ago into a stylish holiday escape. You enter via a metal gate then walk down some stairs to a vine-covered, well-lit courtyard where you can enjoy outdoor dining, day and night. The courtyard leads you to a kitchen/dining room featuring an oven and hob, washing machine and full kitchen. Sharp steps, to the left of the kitchen take you an open plan double bedroom with en suite (shower and toilet) and from this room another set of steep stairs takes you to the romantic top floor double bedroom with en suite (bath and toilet). The middle room isn't overly private because its the stairway to the top floor (although a wall conceals the bed). Ideal for one or two couples but a third couple could sleep on an airbed in the dining area. No wifi in the house but free wifi available in a cafe 40 metres away.

The steps are steep and the floors are tiled concrete so we recommend against taking children under three years of age - for safety. The house would also be unsuitable for anybody with walking difficulties because of the stairs.

The Coastal Montenegro / Boka Kotorska Fjord region

The Bay of Kotor in south-western Montenegro is peaceful, beautiful winding bay on the Adriatic Sea where ancient, preserved, villages cling to sharp hillsides. The bay is equipped with three deep sea ports where luxury superyachts line up in Summer. Tourists leap into the deep fjord bay from rocky swimming platforms (such as a the highly popular tanning/swimming spot between Risan and Perast situated at the trendy 'Pirate Bar'.
The bay, sometimes called Europe's southernmost fjord, is an important tourist attraction in Montenegro.
The bay has been inhabited since antiquity and has some well preserved medieval towns. The picturesque towns of Kotor, Risan, Tivat, Perast, Pr?anj, Herceg Novi and Budva along with their natural surroundings, are major tourist attractions.

The Perast / Risan area

Risan and Perast are best enjoyed with a swimsuit, a good book and some walking shoes. Alternate your time between lounging/swimming/socialising at the funky Pirate Bar on the Risan-side of Perast, walking around the old town of Kotor, eating fresh fish at one of the many waterfront restaurants around the bay or exploring Montenegro by car, boat, bike or on foot.

Risan is the oldest village in the Bay of Kotor and is 5km north of the UNESCO heritage protected village of Perast and a 15 minute drive from the main township of Kotor. The nearest airports are Tivat, Montenegro (a scenic 30 minute drive away) and Dubrovnik in Croatia (a 90 minute drive away). Airlines to Tivat include Jat, Air Berlin, Swiss, Montenegro Airlines, BMI, KLM, Austrian, BA, Lufthansa and Aeroflot). Many major airlines fly to Dubrovnik in Croatia. We recommend you hire a rental car at the airport but if you rent from Dubrovnik you must get car insurance for Montenegro in order to cross the border

“Amazing holiday!” This is a beautiful stone holiday house set in a cute small village. My friend and I came for about five days and we regretted not booking it for longer. The area is postcard perfect for lazy hanging and relaxation...plus you can drop in at Hvar for a night on the way in or out. Ros is great to deal with.

“Authentic, beautiful old property, stylishly modernised with all the mod-cons” We've experienced many typical european city breaks and destinations, so looking for a short european break with a difference, my husband and I booked this property to share with another couple. The area is simply beautiful and just has to be discovered, and coming back every evening to this wonderful cottage was very special. The style of the house is so authentic that for the duration of our stay we felt immersed in the culture of the place. The renovation has been done really well - it's really stylish and modern whilst being sympathetic to the style of the property. High level of comfort in the bedrooms and bathrooms and the kitchen has absolutely everything you need. Our favourite aspect - sitting in the vine covered courtyard samplying the surprisingly wonderful local vintage! Would def recommend.
