The Costa Calida/Murcia region

Translated, Costa Calida literally is “The Warm Coast” – a relatively undiscovered region of Spain, it has the mildest climate in the country.

With two seas to choose from, the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor, the coastline offers impressive cliffs & wonderful beaches together with some stunning marinas and secret coves and inlets. Large flat farmed areas set against a backdrop of cragged mountains and hillside sweep towards lush forests and national parks of natural beauty. All this helps to define what is the Costa Calida, giving visitors the option to enjoy nature. Whilst taking the opportunity to join in the many other activities the region has to offer.

Fast becoming a golfers paradise, there are many other opportunities to join in the fun…learn to sail, explore sunken treasure, great fishing can be had. Take a glorious mud bath, or enjoy the tranquil and safe area of Mar Menor for a gentle swim. The transparent waters of the Costa Calida make the Murcian coast one of the foremost places in the country for scuba and cave diving.

With 240 miles of coastline and approximately 322 days of sunshine each year, the Murcian coast is a beach lovers dream. The warm peaceful waters of the Mar Menor ideal for families as the waters are calm and shallow. Yet a few meters away are the testing waters of the Mediterranean, ideal for wind surfing and other water sports. The beaches stretch for miles where ever you look and none so more than the Calblanque National Park with its unspoilt areas set against a mountainous backdrop.

Murcia, Caragena, Lorca and Caravaca de la Cruz offer historical and cultural sites within the region, with Murcia home to the stunning 600 year old Santa Maria Cathedral, the highest in Spain plus numerous examples of Casino and Romea theatre. Cartagena oozes history, with Christian, Punic, Roman & Byzantine remains and military battlements on display throughout the city. In one of the most beautiful and majestic corners of the region sits Lorca – whilst, one of the five “holy cities” in the world at Caravaca de la Cruz houses the Vera Cruz cross, a shrine for the Lignum Crucis.

Be it historical or modern, relax or explore, chilled or sportsmanlike, the region of Costa Calida certainly has something that should suit everyone at sometime to encourage that first of many visits to the “Warm Coast” and “Little Sea”


Peraleja area

The resort of Peraleja has a unique location - only 15 minutes from the Mar Menor, yet less than 30 minutes from the centre of Murcia City. San Javier, Murcia Airport with its array of Low Cost Flights fom all over the Uk and Europe is only 20 minutes away - a real plus when wanting the minium of effort to travel to your destination, with Alicante just 45minutes away also. New motorways recently constructed ensure the region is well linked to all the major areas, towns and cities.

Set in 3 million square meters of natural parkland and countryside, Peraleja takes its name from the Olive which has been grown in the region for many a year.

As a newly built Five Star Golf Resort, Peraleja will have everything on hand one would expect - a specially built Commercial Centre is under construction ans when complete will contain Restauranst, Bars, Brand name Supermarket and Retail premises.
A uniquely designed 3 storey Club House, Bar & Restaurant is already available, adjacent to the newly built Piano Bar & Restaurant.
Rising above this and looking down across the stunning views of Peraleja will be an 80 bedded Boutique style Hotel, with its "Glass Lift" decending to the Club House below and this is planned for 2009.

One way to travel to the Resort from the airport would be to pass through the evergrowing town of Sucina which has the newly built Sucina &Golf & Country Club alongside are several modern and traditional restaurants and bars situated in and around the town, which is only 10 mnutes from Peraleja. Next door to Peraleja is a brand new Polaris World Golf Centre, with a 9 hole course and retail area to compliment its size.

The Golf course at Peraleja has been set in a landscape which has mediterrnean pineforests mingling with local agriculture, surrounded by hills overlooking the sea.
Severiano Ballesteros has designed this magnificent 18 hole, Par 72, 6230 mtr. golf course, with the course lay out being slightly undulating, its low-profile and slightly crowned greens turn out into an ideal topography. However do not let the course lull you into a false sence of security, as the round does get tougher as you get nearer to completing your target, this coupled with some strategicly located hazards including water hazards makes Peraleja a spectacular course to play.
Remember, there are also up to 10 first class 18 hole courses within 30 Km of Peraleja - so you will be spoilt for choice in this Golfers paradise.

There is an excellent choice of Low Cost Flights from the majority of UK Airports to both Murcia Airport(San Javier) 20km to Peraleja Golf Resort, and Alicante Airport, 60km to the resort, both airports have excellent motorway network links to make use of and are practically straight runs. There are also plans well advanced for new road links to the proposed new International airport at Corverra, which will be positoned between the existing airports of San Javier and Alicante, some 20km from the villa.

For Car Hire:- The majority of Low Cost carriers have a link from their web sites directly to car hire companies all at reasonable prices, some will even upgrade you to a larger car in the low season, so ask on arrival.....
Example of an average price of a car would be from, Europacar or Centuro rental for 1 week: Low Season x £80, High Season x £140. Some will charge in advance for the full tank of pertrol and ask if you want additional tyre and windscreen insurance, others will expect you to bring back the car with a full tank. The above rental agents are fair operators and their cars well maintained.
* HANDY TIP at Murcia Airport....Because the airport is not on a grand scale and the rental agents very close to the reclaim baggage area - One of the party wait for the luggage whilst the "Driver" goes straight to the car rental window and completes all the forms for the car rental, that way you will have minimum delays in getting your holiday off to a flyig start......and DON'T FORGET - You will need your Driving Licence, Passport, Credit card & Address where you are staying when collecting your transport.

The landscaped garden,19 square meter Pool and Outdoor Shower are surrounded by cypress bushes and scattered fruit trees, although secluded it overlooks the 12th Green to the rear and the 4th Green to the front of the property.

Green Times can also be arranged together with Discounted Green Fees (Up to 25%) via the property owner o receipt of the secure deposit payment.

A "Welcome Pack" can be pre-ordered and the standard charge for this is, £15 and consists of:

Transport can be arranged to pick up and drop of at Airports, this is not included in the costs quoted for the rental of the property and is a separate charge and should be paid directly to the driver making the journeys. For your guidence, Murcia Airport would be approximately 30 Euro each way and Alicante would be approximately 80 euro each way.
