The Costa Calida/Murcia region
The Murcia region has over 250 kilometres of coastline and a climate that offers over 300 days of sunshine a year. The Costa Calida, meaning "Warm Coast", benefits from both the Mediterranean Sea and the Mar Menor ("Little Sea"), a vast inland sea offering a wide variety of water sports in warm and calm waters. With wonderful beaches and coves, impressive cliffs and ports, the Costa Calida provides an array of activities to suit all visitors. Of particular note is the Calblanque National Park on the south coast, some 40 minutes drive from the villa, with its miles of unspoilt beaches and renowned flora.
Inland, the citrus-growing fields are set against a backdrop of dramatic mountains, with vineyards, olive groves and unspoilt villages, making this an authentic and comparatively undeveloped area of Spain to explore.
In terms of towns and cities, Murcia itself, Cartagena and Lorca are all within easy reach and offer a wide variety of historical and cultural interest, together with shops, markets and enticing restaurants.
Peraleja Golf area
Peraleja Golf resort offers superb 5* facilities in its location between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea / Mar Menor. This brand new, low density resort is situated 200 metres above sea level and is remarkable for the limited extent of development, preserving 60% of its land for local flora and fauna.
The stunning 18-hole Peraleja golf course, designed by Seve Ballesteros, is 6089 metres long and Par 72. It is slightly undulating with plenty of strategically located water hazards and bunkers but, with wide fairways and lay up areas, it is a course that will appeal to players of all abilities. When combined with its location and tranquillity this makes for a spectacular round of golf.
The resort also provides a full driving range, chipping and putting practice areas, a pro shop, regular competitions and comprehensive tuition. The fabulous Clubhouse, with top-quality restaurant and bar overlooking the course, is around 5 minutes walk from the villa.
Other facilities on site include a Piano Bar, two tennis courts, paddle tennis courts, a full-size football pitch and a children's play area. A Commercial Centre is currently under construction which will house shops and cafes, and a boutique hotel and spa is at the planning stage. These are also within each reach of the villa.
Local amenities are available in the town of Sucina which is 5 minutes drive away. A large supermarket and other shops are available 15 minutes drive away at the Dos Mares shopping centre near San Pedro del Pinatar towards the coast.
Just 20 minutes drive away from Peraleja Golf are a wide choice of local beaches on the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean which have tree-lined promenades with plenty of cafes and restaurants as well as a full range of water sports facilities.
Finally, in terms of golf, the Costa Calida region is fast developing a reputation for excellent new courses which, together with the established courses at La Manga, provide a variety of alternative locations, all easily reached from the resort.
How to get there
Fly to Murcia San Javier airport (20 minutes easy drive to the villa) or to Alicante airport (50 minutes drive, mostly on motorways) which are served by many of the low cost airlines including EasyJet, Monarch, Ryanair, Flybe, BMI, BMI Baby and Jet2 from a large variety of UK airports, and also by British Airways from Gatwick to Alicante.
Car hire is easily available at both airports (eg Europcar, Hertz and Avis). At Murcia San Javier airport the car hire desks are in the same hall as baggage reclaim so it is easy for one of the party to organise the car while others wait for baggage.
Local taxis are available from both airports.

Further details indoors: The single storey villa has a large open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area under an impressive high-vaulted wood-beamed ceiling. In the lounge area is a large comfortable L-shaped red leather sofa, leather armchair, coffee table, flat-screen TV (70 satellite channels including BBC, ITV and Eurosport), DVD/CD player, iPod dock, broadband connection and a selection of DVDs and CDs. The newly fitted kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge/freezer, induction hob, main oven/grill, microwave and a plentiful supply of pans, utensils, crockery, glassware and cutlery. The dining area seats 6 people around an extendable glass-topped table.
There are 3 very comfortable bedrooms, one with double bed, one with twin beds and the third with a single bed and extra nesting single bed. The main two bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes and all have bedside tables and large mirrors. Two hairdryers are provided.
The two modern bathrooms with high quality fittings have a power shower, wc, wash hand basin and ample towel rails. One is en suite to the master double bedroom and the second can be accessed directly from each of the other two bedrooms.
There is a separate room for storing golf clubs etc and it contains one full set of golf clubs, several tennis rackets and paddle tennis rackets for guest use, together with plenty of books and games. Lilos and other equipment for the pool and beaches are stored outside.
Bed linen and towels (except for outdoor use) are included in the price of this villa and it will be cleaned and the beds made ready for your arrival. Linen and towels will be changed and the villa cleaned for any stays longer than one week.
The villa is suitable for children and a cot with bedding and high chair can be provided at a small extra charge. However, please note that the swimming pool is not fenced off in the garden.
Further details outdoors: The villa's open plan living area has large concertina doors to the front and sliding doors to the rear that can be opened fully onto each of the patios. These are attractively tiled to complement the interior flooring, providing a natural extension to the living area of the villa.
Occupying 110 sq metres on a 500 sq metre plot the villa offers privacy and tranquility with exceptional views from its raised location above the golf course. The large private enclosed garden is landscaped with a palm tree, olive and lemon trees and other typical Mediterranean plants. The villa has extensive patio areas, its own swimming pool (approx 6m by 4m), outside shower, sun loungers, swing-seat, table and 6 chairs, Weber barbecue and large sun umbrella.
Its front-line location means that the villa not only overlooks the golf course but also has stunning views of the local countryside across to the Mar Menor in the distance.
Private car parking for one car is provided under a pergola accessed by remote-control gate with further convenient parking available on the road.

A Welcome Pack may be ordered in advance at a cost of £20 for a basic pack (water, beverages, sugar, bread, butter, marmalade, juice etc) or £30 for superior (plus beers, wine, ham, cheese and eggs).
Conditions
A non-refundable deposit of £150 will be required at the time of booking and the balance must be settled 6 weeks before your arrival date. A security deposit of £250 will be required at the time of final payment which will be returned within 10 days of departure, subject to any deduction for breakages etc.
